The Pingdemic

Ping Ping Ping Ping.

You must isolate, you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19. You must isolate for 10 days. You must take tests. Bla bla bla

Interesting article I read, www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-9796645/The-pingdemic-debacle-lockdown-door-writes-PROFESSOR-DAVID-PATON.html

A few of my friends have their kids isolating cos 1 person in their class has tested positive. Whole year groups missing out on their last days of term.

My partner has to isolate for 10 days, losing £700 in wages.

How long cos this shit show carry on with?
While politicians, (understandably) doctors and police dont have to isolate and are being told to come off the app.

While services across Britain are suffering due to low staff because of the NHS app. Tube lines last Saturday in London were cut off due to staff shortages.

Freedom Day tomorrow, a day I've been looking forward to for 18 months ...but there really is no such thing is there?

Kids isolating is not app related.
The greater issue than the app is theres too much covid infections which causes the pings.
We chose lift all restrictions and let it get out of control.
These are the consequences.
Test and trace won't work when large numbers.
Self isolating will least half especially with bojo and rishi not self isolating.

Pingdemic Is the new lockdown. Lockdown is the old staying at home but with unenforced endless excuses to be any where but home.

Not many are staying at home unless they do not want to be at work. Particularly if you are not still living at work and working from home.

It’s now let it rip herd immunity experimentation to test vaccination fatalities and long Covid efficacy but not for MPs doing their own pilot scheme. Some of us are united in this together while others especially those supposedly in charge are united in following the science while the public will be expected to be united to follow dates and hope dates will cheat the evolving mutating super spreading virus. It’s forever different rules and expectations for those making but ignoring their rules and those governed by rules. It is what it is an hence this killdemic with world beating incompetent corrupt and ever gaslighting government with a history of gross negligent manslaughter pandemic mismanagement.

MrsHastingslikethebattle · 18/07/2021 10:38

Kids isolating - yes I know that's not app related but they are still isolating when a person that they come in contact with all have tested positive.

We've lifted restrictions and let it get out of control? Would you like another year? 2 years?

We've been in and out of lockdowns for the past 18 months. We have most adults doubly vaccinated. When do you think we should we come out of lockdown?
"We can stop the spread and mutations by locking down" No we can't.
It's always going to mutate, it's what viruses do. Yes it wouldnt mutate as much if we all continued on lockdowns, never socialised. But why? No variant so far as has been vaccine resistant.

Covid has been responsible for 3% of deaths in the UK this year. And that's people dying with a positive Covid test, many have died of other causes.

To continue with these restrictions for this virus is complete insanity.

We need to learn to live with this rather than hiding from.ir

Who would even have the app now? It's not compulsory.

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 18/07/2021 11:47

Since when is any mobile app compulsory especially when many of the super spreaders are children and like many of the elderly who need protection most are not mobile smartphone owners or users. There is no mandatory requirement to have a mobile smartphone and especially not one with 200% battery at all times just to be pinged because so many people within breathing space are now infected. It’s not fit for purpose just like the u turn gaslighting corrupt government.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 18/07/2021 12:29

Some people seem to think it compulsory even after all this time. I can understand it at the start but not now. I was refused entry to a restaurant last is as apparently it was 'the law' to have the app and scan in. It had only just come out so I presume it was a misunderstanding but there's no excuse for that now.

Politicians do. The ones in the new today aren’t because they have signed up to a new trial where you test everyday for 7 days and are allowed essential trip. Not unique to politians, every close contact is offered this. We were last week.

Police and doctors don’t as when they are on duty they wear medical grade PPE, so transmission is unlikely. However if there contact is outside of work, then they are subject to the same isolation rules.

nonono1 · 18/07/2021 13:43

I’ve got the app and was surprised I’ve never been pinged. However, I didn’t realise until yesterday that you need Bluetooth switched on for it to work. My Bluetooth hasn’t been on for months!

GreenWheat · 18/07/2021 13:58

Some people have to have the app for their work setting, but if not I'd be deleting it, and avoiding places where you have to give your details, or just pretend to give them at this point. It's a farce.

‘When is this going to end’ - 16th August. On this day, double vaccinated adults & those under 18 will not need to isolate on close contact. Obviously, you will if you have symptoms and are waiting for a test result or test positive.

For the next month, delete the app. Mines been long gone!

twitchyyellow · 18/07/2021 15:08

NHS staff all have to isolate if they have contact outside of work. We're 25% down on staff as a result and the hospital is very unsafe.

The pressure from work to basically be on lockdown when off shift is palpable as we're letting everyone down if we have to isolate.

DirtySofa · 18/07/2021 15:14

I suddenly realised the other day that if I worked outside the house - and got paid to self isolate - I would be very happy to be pinged. There must be loads of people like that.

Dave20 · 22/07/2021 19:36

The whole operation relies on two things.
Firstly, people having smart phones.
Secondly , people having the app.
Neither of which are compulsory and many millions of people don’t have either one.

Dave20 · 22/07/2021 19:39

I also agree that there will be certain people doing certain types of jobs ( mainly public sector ) who get paid 100 per cent sick pay to self isolate.
So getting 10 days off work on full pay and not having it held against them on their sick records,is great for those people.
