Is DD's isolation over on monday??

DD (15) is now on her 7th period of isolation from school.

The school have told her that she has to isolate until Monday 26th - is this cancelled out by the differing laws on isolation that come into force on Monday 19th?? Starting to have grave concerns about her mental health..

God knows. DD was sent home on Thursday, received letter on Friday saying close contact, isolate until 25 July.

DD is isolating and testing, and it sort of feels the right thing to do, but I don't know how it will feel come Monday.

Pantene23 · 17/07/2021 21:29

No it’s not. All isolation where you are notified before Monday stand. My DD is in the same position.

delilahbucket · 17/07/2021 21:31

There is no new isolation rule on Monday. School bubbles are no longer a thing from Monday, but close contacts still have to isolate until after 16th August.

ColettesEarrings · 17/07/2021 21:34

The law on isolation doesn't change on Monday, only the use of bubbles as a management tool within schools. Contacts must isolate for ten days from last contact, right up until 16th August. Whether you choose to comply or not, you won't be the only one either way!

I suspected as much, but wanted to check just in case she was stuck in unnecessarily. Can't believe she has been this unlucky to have had to suffer it this many times.

The rules on close contact for school children changes on Monday and schools will be no longer responsible to tracing contacts.

Your DD needs to isolate as per her previous instruction.

I dont know but it is ridiculously unfair.
I even took dc out. One year group yes goes to the following monday.
I am in favour is isolations but it becomes ridiculous when it is rife in a school but only certain people out. And not effective. But it's running into holidays and companies wont necessarily let you move it so your whole holiday gone for this year.
When 2.9% of some year groups infected it really isnt necessarily those isolating from school contact infected it is just as likely their siblings or parents too. So thr sibling goes on holiday.

How many are going to get told to.isolate while on holiday?

HSHorror · 17/07/2021 21:38

Is the rule 48h before symptoms?

Dandy82 · 17/07/2021 21:39

That's horrendous - 7 times?? Your poor dd

Butterflystar76 · 17/07/2021 21:43

48 hours before symptoms or test if asymptomatic… had to tell 80 children to isolate yesterday for the first week of the holidays…… horrible!

Macarena1990 · 17/07/2021 21:49

I could cry for her. She is normally such a bubbly, happy thing and loves school but i'm struggling to get her out of bed nowadays..doesn't help that the school have stopped doing zoom lessons for those isolating.

Darbs76 · 17/07/2021 22:27

Oh my 7 times. That’s terrible. Poor kid

Hophop26 · 17/07/2021 22:38

I really feel for your DD, that is a lot of isolations she has had to put up with. Mine are isolating at the moment due to school bubbles, they are infant school so young and being very understanding of it (other than some dreaming looks out the windows!), they also probably wouldn’t overly notice if it ran into the holidays but it’s so sad for older kids who have been so impacted in last year
