My children are currently isolating and due back in school next week for the last few days left of term. DS (Y6) also has summer school at his new secondary the week after. I’m worrying about the chances of having yet another period of isolation - DS has done 2 stints virtually back to back & he’s so fed up, plus it would also mean we can’t take our family holiday this year.
So with the ‘bubble’ rules changing on Monday, I’m wondering, going forward, how they will determine close contact if there is a positive case?
If it is no longer up to schools to send whole bubbles home but up to test & trace to do this instead, will they just ask the child directly? Can primary age children be relied on to remember all close contacts? If test & trace contact the school to help identify close contacts, will the school name the children who sit immediately next to the infected child, or will the whole class still have to isolate, just as before?
Also, after 16th August, if children no longer have to self isolate for 10 days, but instead are asked to do a PCR, will they and their whole family still have to isolate whilst the results of the PCR come in?
