Track and trace

Do track and trace just create their own rules? Everything online says if you're contacted by T&T you need to self isolate. You only need to do a PCR test if you develop symptoms.

However, I've seen a message from T&T (not sent to me) which says you have to do a PCR regardless of whether you have symptoms or not. That doesn't fit with anything I've seen online.

Has anyone been contacted by T&T and told to do a PCR?

The guidance has changed and people who are a close contact are encouraged to get a PCR test done as soon as possible.

PeonyTime · 15/07/2021 10:28

It's new guidance, that Test and Trace are distributing, that close contacts are to get a PCR test as soon as possible. This delta varient is so transmissible, it's an attempt to limit the spread.

Hmm the online guidance hasn't changed though.

Yes, it has

Grandma14 · 15/07/2021 10:35

Yes...my husband positive PCR On Tuesday ....I’m obviously a contact....but I have no symptoms...2 neg LTVs...but I also had a mail from T n T yesterday saying I must now get PCR tested . And to click here to arrange it.
I’m having a home test delivered today....but after rereading all the guidance last night...l agree....I shouldn’t be needing to PCR test .
So I wont use it!
I have also had a further mail this morning asking if I’d like to trial a 7 daily LFT for PHE....and every day that shows negative, I can un isolate.
Ive said yes. However our isolation ends next Monday anyway.
Both over 65....AZ double jabbed since May
Husband who is positive thought he had just a cold, until a friend of his tested positive by LFT on Monday. They’d all been watching the Denmark (and Italy) games together. Symptoms practically gone .

Yes it has. on both the government and NHS websites. It was a while ago.
Grandma14 · 15/07/2021 10:43

Rereading the guidance posted above, it reads that you “ can” get a test as a contact. The letter from T and T states you “ should now” get a test as a contact.
I think this is another “ guidance v mandatory” situation.
And in 4 weeks’ time...contacts will no longer have to isolate unless they develop symptoms anyway !
I will just carry on with LFTs until our isolation period ends !

kirinm · 15/07/2021 10:48

Then there is an inconsistency on the website as I read this today

Yep that's very nice guidance and seems pretty pointless as it can only tell you if you've got it at that time. You still have to isolate for the full 10 days and you could still develop symptoms after you've tested negative.

The guidance isn't consistent online.

I didn't mean very nice guidance! I meant very MUCH guidance (not law).

Yes, we were asked to do this by t&t. If I'd known I'd have ordered all the tests at the same time. I think this is one of the reasons tests are taking longer to get results back at the moment

toastantea · 15/07/2021 11:11

In Scotland the message from Test and Protect tells you to isolate as a close contact and goes on to say 'please book a test...'

Grandma14 · 15/07/2021 18:02

After accepting the trial, I received a link to report the tests, uploaded photo of neg LFT and as soon as it had been uploaded, the screen said I was now free from isolation for the next 24 hours !
I had also posted a PCR test today.
Husband still says he feels like it’s just a summer cold.
And Ive been out shopping, (masked, gelled and SD, obviously!)
