PCR Home Test Turnaround time

Have been contacted as a close contact a couple of days ago and sent off a home PCR test in the post yesterday mid-morning and was delivered 9pm last night…

What’s the current turnaround time in getting results back for at home PCR tests? I’m based in SW London if that helps?

I'm wondering the same thing. I know a few months ago you could have expected a result by about now. Which delivery office was it delivered from?

You don't get a notification, you need to check the tracking number on the royal mail website.

I posted mine just before 5pm yesterday and got the results back just after 5pm today. East London.

I posted mine 11am yesterday and checked the track and trace on Royal Mail that it was delivered at 9pm last night…

Fingers crossed that I find out overnight as if it’s negative my boyfriend can return home from his parents and doesn’t need to isolate (he was already away when I was exposed!) otherwise if I’m positive I’m home alone for another 7 days 😭

I thought you might have the same lab as us - ours go to somewhere near Gatwick. Any results back yet?

I'm actually hoping mine is positive so I don't have to worry about catching it in the next month or two when cases go sky high. I feel absolutely awful but I don't feel like it's going to put me in the hospital.

I posted on yesterday, also from SW London so will be interested to see! I didn't know you could track its progress so will go and have a look now. Mine would have been in the 5.30pm collection.

Mine was received at Croydon at 20.36, so very similar to you @Throwawayname1994.

Yeah, double vaccinated. I think I'm over the worst of it now but I'm still pretty floored by it.

Presumably the Delta variant then? We have a couple of friends, also double vaccinated, who are both currently ill with it. And I'm in isolation because my PT (single-jabbed though) has it.

I share your worries about the rise of infections, and the subsequent risk . I think from now on I'm going to be much more cautious about going out/going to places.

Posted mine Tuesday (London SW) for 5.30 collection. Got negative results vis email just after midnight last night and text about 7 am this morning.

Mines just come through, negative so we had a false positive on an lft

I'm in the north of England and it was about 35 hours from postbox to result for me.

Well the lab near Gatwick is running at about 18 hours from delivery. Negative but I'm fairly sure I do have it, my sense of smell is fine and I can taste salty, sweet etc but that's about all I can taste.
