Do you pay nursery whilst isolating?

My child has been told to isolate as they were in contact with a covid case at nursery. Do we need to pay nursery for these days or is there legislation around this? We need to take time off work so will struggle to pay nursery fees for this time.

Yes you do need to pay. There is no legislation.

JaffaRaf · 14/07/2021 10:25

Ask the nursery about it. I don’t think there is any legislation but ours give us the option of not paying or adding in extra sessions for free elsewhere. They didn’t tell us this until DC went back to nursery after isolation though so it was a stressful 10 days wondering about it! So I’d just ask them if I were you.

Worth asking but you'll more than likely need to pay

You may not agree with her sentiment and depends how much you want to rock the boat with nursery

Our nursery doesn’t charge for these days. They have always adjusted the following months invoice to reflect the reduction. I believe they still charge you if your child was the one who tested positive though.

Is the nursery closing or is it just that they've asked some children to isolate?

nursery hasn't closed, but my child room is closed and all staff and children who have been in contact are isolating.

Yes they're not supposed to charge you now (unfortunately for them tho as a lot of nurseries are operating on a tight budget anyway). CMA ruled it would be an unfair charge. Unless you've signed a new contract detailing this

LongLiveGoblingKing · 14/07/2021 10:53

I questioned our invoice and asked them to remove the week that my DC was isolating but they refused. Not happy.

Thanks all. I would actually accept a compromise if they are struggling of half pay for isolation days, but seeing as it's not my child that has Covid I really don't feel I should have to pay the full amount for these days.
