How long after testing positive did you test negative on PCR?

So me and my friend are off on holiday on the 23rd, my friend felt unwell for a while and decided to do a lateral flow on the 8th which is positive. We need to get a PCR for the 23rd, from experience, how long did it take you or people you know to test negative? Thanks!

The problem is that you can test positive for up to 90 days after a positive PCR. Can they use the proof of recent covid infection rather than doing a PCR?

My DD tested negative on a lateral flow on day 11 but she didn’t have a further PCR so not sure if that would have been different

Has your friend done a PCR after a positive LFT? Covid needs to be confirmed this way. If the PCR is negative then you don’t even need to worry.

Took until February for me to test negative having tested positive in December. Monthly testing at that point, so unsure when I would have caught it and got rid of it - could have been anything from mid November to catching it to getting rid of it after about mid January…two months would probably be my best guess, but from what I’ve heard it can take about 3 months to disappear off a PCR.

I don’t know about PCR but I tested negative on LFT 14 days after a positive. You should get a proof of recent infect on the Covid Pass on the app once your isolation period is over though

My DF was in hospital back in July last year (not for Covid-19) and tested positive on a PCR. Once his medical procedure was over and done he had to wait until he tested negative on a PCR to get discharged back to the care home. It took six weeks.
