Covid or Tummy Bug

Yesterday morning I woke with awful tummy pains, followed by being sick.

Yesterday afternoon my temperature rose to 38.1

Reasons why it could be a tummy bug -

1 - I ate out on Sunday. Ate lots of meat, all rare (just how I like it)

2 - My daughter is in nursery and last week 3 members of staff and two children all had a tummy bug, my daughter was unaffected.

3 - last week my sister in law had a tummy bug with raised temperature, I saw her a few days later.

Reasons it could be Covid.

1 - I’ve been out to a lot of places recently which will increase my chances of catching Covid.

2 - 2 people in my office have tested positive, I’ve had no direct contact with them.

I’ve had 3 negative lateral flows but I know of several people recently who have had negative lateral flows but a positive PCR.

Ps - I’m fully vaccinated and I feel fine today.

You just won't know until you get the results back. It's 50/50.

DS had just D&V for the first 24 hours of the delta variant with no other symptoms. Then a bit of a runny nose the second day, it wasn't until the evening that the symptoms really kicked. LFTs were negative for the first 2 days of symptoms. He had COVID in 2020 and his first vaccine over a month before he caught it.

I would say the chances of it being the beef are negligible. If you saw your SIL outside her home and your DD didn't get the bug, it's unlikely that is how you caught it but if the bug is in the community, there is a good chance it is a stomach bug. But there is also a good chance it is COVID too.

Hayfever/cold type symptoms (itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing), sinus pain and headache seem to be the most common symptoms with the delta variant, not temperature/continuous cough/loss of smell and taste, so don't ignore those symptoms.

Hopefully, whatever it is is short lived and mild.

It was sensible to do a PCR test. Hopefully you will get the results back quickly.
