After being in contact (not close) with a family member who has tested positive, I did a LTF yesterday which showed up positive. Took myself for a PCR and results came back negative this morning. I have done another LTF and it is positive and I did this because when I was tested yesterday the worker doing it triumphantly when finished stated 'that was the quickest 1 yet' This making me think that perhaps that the test was not done correctly?

Am I being over cautious, just get on with all the things I have planned this week...

Youre a contact of a positive case so you need to isolate regardless of what the tests say. The fact youve had 2 lateral flows that are positive would suggest to me you are in the early stages of it - I would isolate and get another pcr in 2 days or earlier if you get symptoms.

You may have PCR tested too early, maybe do another in a couple of days and isolate in the meantime.

You should be isolating after two positive lft. My DD was a close contact of a positive case. She works in social care. They can't just isolate, the service has been at breaking point and service users have suffered, so the workplace guidance for some social care providers is now daily lft and go off them.

Thanks for getting back to me, another 2 positive LFT this morning still very faint so I got a PCR, just the waiting now...

It wouldnt surprise me.
Our school has over 5 cases. But many more kids than that have symptoms and tested negative. So incorrect pcr not surprising but thiscwould be done by parents
