Pfizer Vaccine......DH fitness gone downhill since.....

harryandmarv · 12/07/2021 17:19

Both DH & I had our 1st dose around 5 weeks ago. He's usually very fit, 3, 4 bike rides a week, very active. He's only managed one ride since having the vaccine. I'm not anywhere near as fit. I got a bit of an achey arm after that's it. DH noticed after first few days of having vaccine, he felt unusually tired, getting breathless, which wasn't like him. He also felt stabbing pains in his chest/heart. He's since been to the doctors about 3 times, 3 different doctors can hear a murmur in his heart. He went to the hospital about 10 days ago where they did a heart trace and took bloods. This didn't pick anything up.

Today he still felt quite bad, like its uncomfortable to breathe and he has had pain in his arm. His arm had a vibration sensation in it last night. He rang the doctors today and she told him to go to A&E as she too can hear the murmur when she listened to his heart.

So he's there now again. The kept him in from 7pm until 3pm the following day last time doing bloods etc, I don't understand why they didn't do an echocardiogram then?! He's due to have an chest x-ray this week but hopefully they'll do it today.

Of course its easy to link this to the vaccine as prior to this he was absolutely fine and had not seen a doctor in 7 years. He would normally cycle up to 50 miles or more, maybe 3 times a week. He can barely manage to kick a ball about in the garden without sitting down catching his breath. Totally different in the space of 5 weeks.

Any body else had these symptoms after the vaccine?

Has it been reported on the yellow card, I link has been posted amongst medics and symptoms to look for, so they should make the connection.

Raindancer411 · 14/07/2021 21:56

That's what's worrying me about going for my second jab. I stuff with palpations and pounding heart as it is, and the first I am sure my palpations to worse. The chance of it happening are really low is what I kept telling myself but it seems your poor hubby was one of the unlucky ones.

On the plus form what I have read with rest and treatment most of it seems mild, so he should soon be back on his bike :)

Loustew12 · 14/07/2021 22:04

Hope he's ok and glad he's being seen to. Please report this to the Yellow Card Scheme. The office of national statistics estimate that adverse events are massively under reported which makes it difficult to monitor safety and for people to give informed consent.

@harryandmarv
How is your DH doing?
2 weeks after having my Pfizer I started having palpitations, shortness of breath and I also have inflammation but awaiting an mri scan to look for myocarditis. I'm also 37 and used do hiit training twice a week and weights. I'm so anxious

He seems to be on the mend thank you. He actually went for a little bike ride yesterday so it does look like he’s on the right track now at least.

I am having doubts about my 2nd Jab, DH obviously not going for his 2nd, but he said it’s up to me if I go for mine not, he’s worried yes, he’d prefer me not to go for it incase I get poorly like him, but I say if I was ok with my first, I really should be ok with my 2nd?

Oh my goodness! Yes. I have. I am training for a marathon and constantly feel breathless, which is unlike me as I am very active and run regularly. I had Covid in March 2020, ran 13 miles two months later at an 8 min/mile pace with no trouble. Now? 12 miles at 10 min/miles yesterday and had to keep stopping. It’s not the heat, it’s something else because it’s been like this since I had the bloody vaccine. It’s awful. (And before anyone comes for me, yes I had the second one. Figured my fitness was already shot to shit so what’s the worst that could happen and I want to be able to travel again one day)

Chimboo · 22/07/2021 23:26

I posted in such a rant I forgot to say - I wish your DH all the best Flowers

I honestly don’t understand how some people can claim that these awful side effects are ‘better than getting Covid’ when for the most part, an otherwise healthy person who gets the virus will not suffer in the ways some of the PP on this thread describe.

It really angers me that those unlucky enough to suffer these side effects are essentially being told to suck it up as they are just unlucky and we mustn’t scare people by talking about incredibly rare adverse reactions. I don’t think they are that rare. I do think they are under-reported.

muffindays · 22/07/2021 23:45

A family member got breathless and tired after astrazeneca. Was blood clots. Ensure that they get checked for this by GP if not already.

So from many people saying report it to yellow card scheme and no one saying to not talk about it, you've concluded that? Confused. Statistically yes someone under 40 is very unlikely to be very poorly with covid, just as they are very unlikely to have an adverse reaction to the jab; but both have a chance so I don't think it's wild that people mention that.

Glad they've figured out what it is OP and that he is on the mend.

This has been my experience, despite having HAD Covid and feeling better after it than I do now 😬 ah well. I saw no alternative, because I do desperately want to travel again and I can’t see us being allowed to without both jabs. I guess my running days are just over, and all I can do is “suck it up” like I’m constantly told to 😞

My 58 year old mum had her first ever heart attack after having it. Doctors simply won't discuss the two things being connected at all.

Monoxide · 23/07/2021 03:04

This has made me really frightened because I had 2 doses of Pfizer and now I’m wondering if it’s wrecked my heart.

If you're having pains and worried about them get them checked out. But if it's simply as you've had Pfizer, I've had both and I'm as fit as I was before, in the gym 6 days a week. No issues here. The individuals with serious side effects remain very very low.

They obviously wouldn't say whether its connected to the vaccine or not, its just co-incidence that the symptoms have appeared since having the vaccine.

My 58 year old mum had her first ever heart attack after having it. Doctors simply won't discuss the two things being connected at all.

Herin lies the problem. We keep being told these side effects are extremely rare except medical professionals are refusing to record these effects as vaccine damage so we don't actually know how rare they are.

I hope you DH makes a full recovery OP.
