Double Vaccinated for Travel

Hi all,

I can’t find a reply to this anywhere so wondered if anyone knows. We have a ten day trip abroad booked to a place that is on the amber list. A member of our party has their second dose of Pfizer booked for just over a week before we travel. They’re classed as fully vaccinated after 14 days due to the time required for the immune system to respond.

We know they need a test for their outward travel as that’s what the destination country currently requires. But for our travel back into the UK, would they be classed as fully vaccinated? We need to plan their tests and isolation- the country might turn green this week, but probably not

Thank you for any help/thoughts

As long as they’re 14 days post 2nd vaccine on return then it’s following the current guidance for green list on return. Double check what the requirements are for entering the country you are visiting eg France (for holiday) is negative test AND to be 14 days post 2nd dose of approved vaccine.

Pp is correct. Lots of countries want tests as well, understandably.

Thank you x I was unsure because all the gov website says is ‘before travel’ - I was unsure whether he’d be classed as unvaccinated for the outward journey but vaccinated for the homeward trip or if he’d be classed as unvaccinated for the full trip

I think the problem is, that the UK govt obviously can only comment on rules for leaving the UK and for entering, from their POV, whereas then country B might have a different one for entering there and leaving there.
I'm so confused I think I might end up staying put even though am double vaccinated and dying to get on a plane!

I know that he’ll be unvaccinated for entry into Greece so will need a test for that. It’s just that his 14 days are up before travelling back to the UK so I don’t know whether I can just book him pre flight and day 2 tests (as a vaccinated person flying home from an amber country), or if he’ll need ore flight, day 2 and day 8 tests plus a ten day isolation (if he’s classed as unvaccinated despite being more than 14 days…)
