God I'm so confused...please help.

We are currently isolating as DH tested positive last Monday, symptoms started day before so isolation due to end this thurs. However DD became ill last night & has just tested positive, do we all start a new 10 days isolation or does only DD have to & as long as no symptoms the rest of us stop isolating thurs???

Only DD.

My understanding, after a call from Test and Trace, was that the person in the household who originally tested positive is “free” after 10 days but any other members would have to extend their self isolation, if someone else tests positive in the home.

That is my understanding too. You would need to isolate for another 10 days but DH can go out on Thursday.

Nope wrong. People without symptoms do not need to extend isolation.

The contact tracer I spoke to last week didn’t understand this either.

Do this :

The first person who tested positive is free to carry in as normal after their ten days.

The rest of the family need to start their 10 days again from second persons symptoms

Lemons1571 · 11/07/2021 10:00

No, they don’t.

They don’t.

They really don’t.

SciFiScream · 11/07/2021 10:04

Only DD restarts the 10 day count. As long as the rest of you remain symptom free and have no positive tests you are free from isolation on the original date given to you.

All 4 of us ended up with positive test results. We confirmed with track and trace AND the helpline that only the person with the result had to isolate
DD free 1st July, I was free 4th July, DS was free 8th July and DH was free 10th July.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 11/07/2021 10:06

No, you don't. Originally you did but it changed. See Lemons link.

@glitterndirt good luck! My kids are on days 8 and 5 here, but I am symptomless and free in a couple of days time.

dementedpixie · 11/07/2021 10:44

Only the person with symptoms gets an extra 10 days isolation. The others don't need to extend their isolation period unless they get symptoms too
