Green list testing confusion

I have booked a day 2 test for after my green list holiday. Nothing says I have to isolate until I've had the test or the results but then what's the point of the test if I've potentially been walking around with covid for 2 days? Then depending on who you book through the day 2 results could take ages to come back (I've read reviews saying some never came back!) Am I meant to isolate until results are back?

No, you go about your business as usual.

The point of it is so that you can give 70 odd quid to a company owned by a Tory party doner. As you say what’s the point when you’ve been wondering around spreading it about already.

Yes @whiskerywoman infuriating knowing we're being conned but what can we do. The other thing is, I'm going abroad for a second time 5 days after returning from the green list holiday. What happens if my day 2 result hasn't come back by then? Will I get to the airport and be turned away or will they be unaware?

It’s on or before day 2…so you can get it at the airport after your return flight or do it the day you land which buys more time before next flight

Yeah it seems like it's just a money spinner to me. I'm not even sure what would happen if you just binned it (I won't do that of course) - seems that the important part is proving you paid for it and after that I'm not convinced anyone even cares.
