PCR home test taking forever for result

Anyone know the cause of this?
Posted on Tuesday 4pm from a priority postbox.
DH was snotty and feeling fatigued.
Has now developed a cough.
It was a test from Aug 20 but barcode and registration etc all worked so surely that wouldn't cause the delay?

We went to a walk in. Wednesday afternoon test, didn’t get results til Thursday evening.

KittyMcKitty · 08/07/2021 17:14

My dd was tested at a drive through 12 ish yesterday- still no results. I imagine they’re swamped!

TiddleTaddleTat · 08/07/2021 17:17

Yeah maybe that's it, just too busy.
Just worried they've gone astray I guess.

I guess a walk in would have been quicker but he didn't want to go.

Took over 3 days for ours to come through, called 119 took forever and many attempts but they were willing to chase after 72 hours and had the results shortly after.

onemouseplace · 08/07/2021 17:34

DH posted his from a priority postbox that would have gone first thing Monyda, and only got the result this afternoon.

TiddleTaddleTat · 08/07/2021 17:37

Thanks, did you then get the result by email text or both?

OP posts:
AddsVsGeorgs · 08/07/2021 17:38

Its normally about 3-4 days for a post one

Both.

there's really no set time. We've had 3 days 24 hours, 36 hours and 11 hours. The 11 hours was very recent. Also depends on where you are! Hope you get results soon!

Can be a delay between text and email. When I was tested. I had the text at 6am but the email had come through at 11pm the night before!
toastantea · 08/07/2021 19:54

I posted DS on Saturday morning and got the result Sunday evening. Faster than DS friend who went to a walk in on the Friday and only got the result Sunday lunch time!!

WinterPeony · 08/07/2021 19:59

Took my son for a drive through PCR test yesterday at 11am and no sign of the result yet which I'm a little surprised at. Hopefully soon!

dreamingofyou · 08/07/2021 20:10

my ds tested at walk in 4ish yesterday still nothing

dreamingofyou · 08/07/2021 20:11

saying that when we did a home test back in January and it came back 12 hrs after

KittyMcKitty · 09/07/2021 08:23

We’ve just had the results back from a PCR done at a drive through centre on Wednesday lunchtime.

MagicalTurnip · 09/07/2021 08:32

Still waiting for results from tests posted Tuesday - fingers crossed they come through today.

TiddleTaddleTat · 09/07/2021 08:39

Still waiting here too.
Wondering about taking him to a drive through if we don't get them today.
He's due to work tomorrow and is refusing to self isolate. Despite having developed a cough. Nightmare

Well he is a dick then!
MagicalTurnip · 09/07/2021 10:04

Stupidly I took photos of the postage label so we could track when they were delivered, but didn't think to keep a record of the barcode on the tests Blush

I'm assuming we can't chase them with 119 now?

TiddleTaddleTat · 09/07/2021 10:31

@Bananacocks hahaha. Yeah you're right!
Fortunately it was negative. Came through about 10 today, that's after posting at 4 on Tuesday.

OP posts:
TiddleTaddleTat · 09/07/2021 10:33

I think he thought it was unlikely to be positive as he did 3 LFTs over a couple of days that were all negative. Although I'm coming to realise they are almost useless.

Priceyslefteyebrow · 09/07/2021 10:35

So if my lateral flow test today was negative, I can safely say I haven't got Covid then? I'm still waiting for my PCR test from Sunday

UKmumtobe · 09/07/2021 10:43

@MagicalTurnip I did exactly they same and the wouldn't help me when I called 119 Angry she said I basically have to organise another test and wait again.
