Will we get it again?

Hi everyone,
I haven't posted in a while. I posted back in March when my DH and I had covid and everyone was so supportive. My DH was very unwell and ended up in hospital for a week, and still isn't back to normal. Since then, we have had 1 vaccine each and I have returned to work as a primary school teacher. Everything has been fine since I returned and enjoyed being back, until covid hit our school last week. We now have 6 members of staff with positive tests, and many others isolating either because of contact with the positive staff or contact outside of work. We have 3 bubbles closed with many cases in each. I do PPA cover so I work across the school and come into contact with lots of children. I have been more than happy to do that up until this last week. We have so few staff in school that tomorrow I have a whole bubble by myself all day in one room.
Anyway my question is, how likely am I to pick covid up again? I am terrified of my DH getting it again. I am lateral flow testing everyday atm. It worries me that the two double vaccinated members of staff who currently have covid are very unwell. Do you think we will be immune for a while? Presumably we didn't have the delta strain march.

I don't think anyone can answer this question. It is so dependent so so many different factors. I'm sorry to hear your DH is still unwell.

I don’t know and it must be a very anxious time for you and your DH.

I would point out though that some countries (I think France is one but don’t quote me on that) are only giving one dose of a vaccine to those who’ve had covid so in some places you and your DH would be considered fully vaccinated. It’s still concerning when you hear of double vaccinated people getting very ill but you’ve got more protection than those who’ve only had one dose but never had covid.

A bad case of covid should give better immunity than a mild case so your DH could well have better protection than someone who's been double vaccinated.
