Negative LFT but now symptoms

DS15 has been isolating since Monday due to being in contact with a friend who has tested positive. He did a LFT this morning at 8am and it was negative. Since then he has started to feel unwell, he has a headache and says he feels cold although his temp is at 37.3. Is this just coincidence, is it worth him doing another test now or wait until the morning and going straight for a PCR test?

LFT are not very reliable and have a high false negative rate. If he has symptoms its best to do a PCR

He qualifies for a PCR which is far more accurate. If you have any concerns for yourself/another family member you can also be tested as a contact of a contact, whether or not he goes on to have a positive test. Get him tested today if you can and you'll know for sure later on tomorrow. Hope he's ok.

I would get a PCR test as he has symptoms now.

As he has symptoms I would get a PCR

Thanks all. I've just booked a PCR test for tonight.

LFT are only for asymptomatic as not very reliable. Any symptoms (and delta has different symptoms not just the 3 main) then you must go straight for a PCR.
