I have come into contact with a positive covid person. I had my first pifzer 4 weeks ago. I am a bit over weight, in my 30s.

If I do get covid, am I at risk of being seriously ill and ending up in hospital?
I know 2 doses is best but will it help a bit I've had my 1st?

I am extremely scared. We are all self isolating since we found out.
I haven't been able to eat much since finding out and anxiety is so high Its causing me toilet trouble :-(

How many days ago did you come into contact with the positive person? Was it close contact?

It should help that you've had your first but yes 2 doses is the best protection (frustrating for your age group!).

You will definitely have some protection as it’s over 21 days and a little more if you had Pfizer. Try anything to keep your mind occupied. My adult son has had to isolate 3 times after work colleagues contracted covid, he didn’t catch it. He booked himself PCR tests each time on or around day 5 of last contact, although he lied saying he had a temperature to get test, his work told him to do it. He still isolated for the full 10 days, but it helped to know he was negative halfway through.

We were in contact Monday evening. Unvac grandparent kissed and hugged kids goodbye. I was holding one child as he did it, so I was quite close too. we were outside. :-( so I don't know if that counts as 3 or 4 days ago.

Outside is good! So the grandparent is now positive?

I have read that 2 days is the earliest for symptoms to show and 5 days is the average time after exposure to show symptoms. For me you are now on day 3 (using actual clock time rather of it being nearly 72 hours rather than weird covid tracing days).

Yes unfortunately grandparent is positive. Thank you for replies xx
