Can I host this before 19th?

Would I risk a fine if I host a camping party for 15 teenagers in our (huge) garden for DCs birthday, all in small tents?

Was going to be after 19th but there are reasons why that now cannot happen.

Could this result in a fine? So confused about the Covid rules!

Surely it's fine. Groups of up to 30 outdoors?

freelions · 08/07/2021 08:36

Think you are allowed up to 30 outdoors so as long as there are multiple tents then I don't see why not

PlumpCushion · 08/07/2021 08:37

It’s the access to bathroom that concerns me- and lack of social distances when mingling.

I would. These are children/teens who will be mixing all day at school anyway. And all 15 are hardly likely to want to use the loo at the same time.

PlumpCushion · 08/07/2021 08:39

Does the bathroom issue make it a rule of six indoors issue? (As they’re sharing facilities albeit not at same time!)

No I don't think so because they surely thought of that, any party of 30 in the garden during the day surely also requires everyone to share bathroom facilities

SmidgenofaPigeon · 08/07/2021 09:39

What do you think people gathering in pub beer gardens do when they need to go to the toilet?

Chillychangchoo · 08/07/2021 09:47

I think you’re over thinking this.

Have the party.

hazelnutlatte · 08/07/2021 09:56

I think its fine - I hosted 10 6 year olds at a party in my garden last weekend, all well within the rules! Obviously they needed to come inside for the toilet but not all at the same time

PlumpCushion · 08/07/2021 10:26

Happy to be told I’m over thinking it! They’re likely to be a tiny bit loud and so I need to ensure that it’s within the rules.

Smidgeon, I absolutely agree but there are so many contradictions with Covid rules!

Thanks everyone

I believe the guidance last summer was that the toilet situation you're describing is fine. There is also no social distancing required between friends and family. A camping party sounds fun!

PlumpCushion · 09/07/2021 06:59

Brilliant. You’ve all reassured me. Thanks so much xx

Why not have a belated celebration after the 19th? Weather may be better too.

PlumpCushion · 09/07/2021 07:20

I said in my OP that we can’t, unfortunately. That was the original plan.
