Who’s caught it when isolating with a positive?

How many of you or your families have caught covid from each other whilst isolating? Isolating with my child who just tested positive today… can’t isolate them as such as only primary school age 🥺

Etsylicious · 08/07/2021 00:40

Me - husband tested positive, four days later I did, then four days later our 4 yo DS did. We’re all out the other side now.

Good luck x

May I add my son is in primary school year 3

Hidehi4 · 08/07/2021 00:42

Nope my daughter had it and four of us didn’t catch it

Puffthemagicdragongoestobed · 08/07/2021 00:44

DH tested positive on Sunday, in hindsight had symptoms for a couple of days. Me and the kids tested negative yesterday. I really hope we won't get it as I don't want the kids to miss their last week of term!

Luckymummytoone · 08/07/2021 00:48

Bit mixed then! I will have to keep my fingers and toes crossed 😵‍💫
Oh I hope they make it back to school @Puffthemagicdragongoestobed x

My year 4 child had it, first suspected when he had cold symptoms, that night he was in bed with me and boiling hot, he coughed in my face at least 5 times and I never caught it off him, I later went on to catch it months later from someone else so it wasn't that I was immune to it, he was around his dad and my partner while he had it and neither of them caught it.

greenlynx · 08/07/2021 01:18

Cousin got it and then after 5 days his wife and toddler DC developed symptoms as well. He wasn’t isolating as such as they’ve shared bathroom and kitchen.

@Puffthemagicdragongoestobed

Surely they will miss out on the last week of term anyway? As the whole family is isolating for 10 days?

GiantToadstool · 08/07/2021 05:37

2.5 weeks left of school here... so probably not!

Puffthemagicdragongoestobed · 08/07/2021 06:08

@Imfedupwithallofthis the last week of term here starts on the 19th, so unless anyone else in the family gets ill our isolation period would be over by then.

Figroll16 · 08/07/2021 06:15

My 8 year old had it but myself and elderly parents didn't catch it .
Fingers crossed for you!

Tiddleztheelephant · 08/07/2021 06:17

2 different friends of mine:

  1. Single mum two kids, both kids got it, mum was fine (1 jab)
  2. A couple with four kids, both fully vaccinated adults got it, all the kids were fine.

So it does just seem to be the luck of the draw a bit really, it's warm so keep windows and doors open as much as possible..... good luck!

kimlo · 08/07/2021 06:25

dd caught got it while in self isolation for close contact, nobody in the house caught it from her.

OliveTree75 · 08/07/2021 06:36

3 out of 5 of us in our house caught it (in march before me and dp had a vaccine) . The 2 youngest didn't

PSSN · 08/07/2021 06:46

Husband caught it, three days later me and kids tested positive.

Keepgoing88 · 08/07/2021 07:10

We all caught it and had symptoms from sons positive… apart from the toddler, he well could have had it too but no symptoms and 3 /4 negative lateral flows. My eldest ds has it, then middle ds tested positive 4/5 days later, then a few days later me and DH had positives

Imfedupwithallofthis · 08/07/2021 07:40

Our local schools only have next week to go, different everywhere. Sorry I misunderstood.

Just had a worrying 24 hours, when grandaughter had to be tested, would have missed all of next week, her last one. Luckily for her, her family, and her schoolmates, the test came back negative.

TimeForLunch · 08/07/2021 07:43

DS had it a few months ago. He was coughing and spluttering all over me in particular but none of us caught it.

BarbarianMum · 08/07/2021 07:48

First time Dh and ds1 caught it from me. Second time ds1 gave it to me. Ds2 is either asymptomatic or bomb proof.

cptartapp · 08/07/2021 07:51

DS1 18 had it last month. DS2 and double jabbed DH caught it within a week too.

SantiagoSky · 08/07/2021 07:52

My 8 year old DS had it earlier this year but didn't pass it on to us while isolating. We were wearing masks and windows were open.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 08/07/2021 08:00

Teen DD caught it through a contact at school, has been keeping herself to her room mostly which is natural for a teenager although shared family bathroom. So far no spread in the household, 7 days since onset of her symptoms and her LF tests are now negative so fingers crossed 🤞 We keep windows open as much as possible especially when together in rooms, not sharing towels, extra cleaning etc. but I'm not OTT about it as it's airborne so other than ventilation there's not much you can do.

SpnBaby1967 · 08/07/2021 08:02

I had it, still shared a bed with DH and lived with my 3 kids (small house so couldn't really isolate) and none of them caught it.

Houseofvelour · 08/07/2021 08:07

When I had it at the start of the pandemic (pre-Covid tests), my husband was unwell for about 12 hours and both my kids were fine.
