Questions about current isolation guidance

Hi

A bit shell shocked as my dd’s PCR result came back positive (she had a positive lateral flow test result which is why she did the PCR test) so now we are isolating as a household.

Is it 10 days isolation including the test day or from the day after the test?

The rest of the household is going to do a PCR test as we think one of us must have given it to dd as she has been isolating from school for 10 days. If our PCR results are negative can we stop isolating?

Also confused as when I put the code that was on the positive result text into the app, it told her to go and get a PCR test - as if it was the LFT result. But I know it is the PCR result. I rang 119 but they were not very helpful.

As she had no symptoms then it’s 10 days from PCR positive test result and also 10 days for you all, even if you get negative PCR result you still have to isolate for 10 days.

Testing does not release you from contact isolation, and the day of the positive test is day 0

Thank you.

Positive test is day 0 so the 10 days start from the day after. A negative test does not release anyone from isolation early

I would take it as 10 days from the positive LFT (in the absence of any symptoms), not from the PCR result

devastating · 07/07/2021 09:38

Day 0 which means the 10 days start the day after, or is it day 1?

Sorry to split hairs but if it is in actual fact 11 days both by dds miss their last day of school Sad.

Is that what you meant by result @Mindymomo - we got the result today so day 1 is today?

day zero is either the day of first symptoms or the day you did the test (not the day of the test result as sometimes they take days!)
the following day is day one. and unfortunately yeah you all have to isolate up to and including day ten.

devastating · 07/07/2021 09:39

Oh I see @dementedpixie - from the lateral flow test result.

@Frazzled2207 thanks - sorry - running around like a headless chicken in my mind.

if the test was done yesterday then yesterday is day zero and today is day one.

We had a letter from school clarifying this and admitting that there was info out there contrary to this (perhaps day zero is a new thing)

Thank you
