Covid pre pregnancy effects?

Hi,

I had covid in January 2021, mildly I lost my sense of smell but luckily never lost my taste!
I still can only smell wiffs of smoke, horrible perfume and horrid smells.

I became pregnant in March and since being pregnant my taste has now changed and its progressively getting worse.
I'm now 17 weeks and majority of foods taste absolutely disgusting and I cannot eat them. I can only eat cheese, pancakes, bread and cereal at the moment.

I have spoken to my GP who says this is a normal side effect of pregnancy and to eat what I can but I'm struggling so much I have no energy and I feel low.

Can any give me any advice or guidance please?

Thank you!

Hi! I'm afraid I don't really have advice as I'm exactly the same :( lost my smell and taste around January, was putting up with it but since getting pregnant it's really bad, I'm 7 weeks now. This morning had to try 3 different things before finally forcing an orange down (I've found most fruit and veg is okay.) If I weren't pregnant though I wouldn't have bothered but trying to eat properly for baby :( smell is terrible too, cooked my partner some sausages for lunch (I can't eat them anymore, they're gross) but since then all I can smell all day is raw sausages!!! Even when we were out! Sorry I'm no help!

Well I've never had covid but I have been pregnant and those symptoms fit exactly how I felt.
I didn't enjoy any food for 40 weeks. I had to force myself to eat for the baby.

@CatAlice
Yeah I think it's a mixture of both. It's awful
though just can't find anything to eat easily and it changes everyday, yesterday I managed a yogurt this morning nearly three it up 😄🤦🏼‍♀️
