Is T&T being wound down?

We are at the end of day 3 of isolating (positive case in household). T&T phoned once to take details, give us a freedom date, and that’s been it. I thought they phoned multiple times a day, once foe each household member (and there are 5 of us!). Was expecting a deluge of texts and calls but, nothing. Are they not so bothered about it all any more?

I didn't get a single call when I had to isolate. Just the notifications on the app to say isolate and that was it

One positive employee at work claims T&T did not ask them for any close contacts. Another (more reliable) colleague knows they were in contact with 2 people who both tested positive at weekend and has not been contacted to isolate, so yep anecdotally it seems they aren't bothering this week!

I had bizarre conversation with them today in which they told me self-isolation was not a legal requirement, there was no law to self-isolate and it was basically optional.
Maybe T&T was hacked by the anti-lockdown brigade today or maybe they are preparing to tell people to stop bothering (as per Javid today).

Maybe they were right, maybe there is no law to enforce it. When I double-checked it was 'guidance' actually.
Maybe someone is suing them and they are fessing up that it was 'guidance' all along...

maskedavenger · 06/07/2021 20:11

btw, this was in regard to 'close contacts' not a positive case (which I would expect would be covered by law)

Brokenrecord3006 · 06/07/2021 20:20

I also know someone who recently tested positive and wasn't asked about close contacts. They just told the friends they'd seen and a few of them isolated while the rest carried on as usual.

Am beginning to feel like a bit of a mug now! We were both doubly vaxxed a month ago, and ds has just tested positive. Is there much point us isolating? Will anyone fine us if we popped to Tesco??

We were not contacted as contacts of a positive case but isolated anyway as the positive person made us aware. Now we have positive results they have been in touch but only once.

noblegiraffe · 06/07/2021 22:56

It's a legal requirement to self-isolate if contacted by T&T, not optional.

Staff at T&T said yes you can be fined as a close contact but it is guidance not law

maskedavenger · 07/07/2021 01:08

Close contacts apparently should only be household / support bubble members according to the self isolation guidance. Plus boarding schools. That is from the page linked. T&T seemed bemused and exasperated

maskedavenger · 07/07/2021 01:33

The word T&T used was not 'optional ' but a word beginning with 'r' similar to at your own discretion. Wish I could remember the exact word.
T&T also kept saying you are not obliged to disclose your health data.
