Hi, Just wondering if anyone knows this? I have seen that some have been approved for kids over 12 in the UK but can't see anything about when they will start offering it.

They need to start now vaccinating over 12s right now, and even then there probably won't be time to double vaccinate them by September.

They need to start with CEV and CV over 12s, then move down by age group.

Otherwise September is going to be chaos and teachers will still see the kids as a life-threatening problem best kept out of the school.

I find it daft that the best scientific minds in the country, with decades of expertise in drug approvals, the MHRA are subjugated by the cabinet and their own appointed JCVI on this matter. The MHRA have approved it, done the risk assessment, and deemed it safe.

The problem is partly very noisy anti-vaxxers, but if the vaccination is optional for over 12s then they can shut up and deal with their own fear of missing out without ruining life for everyone else's children.

It's a pity that the Janssen vaccine had the same clot issue as AZ. as it would have made sense to vaccinate say 15-17 year olds with that one, as it only needs one dose (Y10-13 in England). Could have made a lot of headway during the summer. The government could then have taken a view on vaccinating younger children.

I have 2 children with complex needs. Youngest is only 7. We are desperate to get them vaccinated and easing all.restrictions is just forcing us back into complete lockdown again.
No.one seems to have thought about this or even care v much either as far as I can tell.
Madness !

It's not a given that it will be a national programme for all 12-16s, the JCVI are still evaluating the risk v. benefits so its possible they may only proceed in the UK for CEV/CV children. There is an ethical arguemnt against us vaccinating healthy children who are at v.low risk when there are still countries where even health professionals have trouble accessing jabs nevermind their vulnerable at high risk adult populations.
