QR Codes and associated nonsense

Does anyone who's got the patience to watch the PM know if the silly Contact Details, QR code, check in with the app type bullshit for Cafes, Resturants is being done away with from the 19th?

I’ve been pretending to check in for weeks, and have never had contact tracing on. I’m interested to know but I’ll continue as I am if not.

Pretty sure QR codes are being done away with.

He’s not mentioned it specifically but did say some sort of test/trace system would continue so I think they’re here to stay a while longer.

No idea but I don't do QR codes.

I just give my email address & phone number when making the booking, something I would do normally anyway.

I have never actually signed into anywhere, ever.
I get my phone out, open camera and hover it over the code then the staff member has stopped looking and I put my phone away.
I've never been anywhere where they've checked it's been done, it's just box ticking for them to have the code up.

If they aren't gone on 19th then feel free to use my method on signing in.

Yes I sometimes have just taken a photo of the code, I don't have the app, if anyone said anything I would just say that I thought that was what you had to do, I'm old, so I can plead tech illiteracy.

According to the BBC 'venue check-in requirements will be scrapped'.

That means you have to have the NHS tracking app and I refuse to partake in that game.

Where I’ve had to do it last summer I’ve either given fake name/number on paper form or used the firms own system and just closed it but would rather this kind of stuff wasn’t happening as it’s of little value

Was going to delete the Covid app but I suppose there's still a chance I'll need it if I go to a pub or cafe before 19th.

I've only ever used the app to check in, I've not had contact tracing on since the stories started on here last year of people being pinged because a neighbour walked past their window and so on.

The only place I properly signed in were the caravan sites and I gave my name and phone no then, they must have had my details anyway.

I don't see the point of checking in to an open air NT cafe to have a cup of coffee and cake when I can sit in a similar place at a picnic table at NT without having to check in, just ridiculous.

God this kind of behaviour is simultaneously why we've had such a terrible time of covid and also why we've never had a revolution.

Tell the English to do something and they just go surly.

Not rise up in protest, not suck it up temporarily for the greater good and demand better from government in the meantime, but just act like a bunch of teenagers being asked if they've done their homework.

He said test, trace, isolate is remaining for non vaccinated people but also that legal restrictions are gone so presumably it's good if you check in but you're not legally required to.

I lived nearby and was asked by a kid in the local newsagents if we needed anything as we could place orders and he could arrange to get anything we wanted.

We are more what’s the weather like and can we go a bit of shopping whilst we are out.

Asked to do anything we are really inventive at finding ways not to do it.

Giving fake names and numbers is SO irresponsible.

I don’t see why it matters what the rules are going to be around checking in OP when you seem to have already deemed yourself above it.

This pandemic has shown that people, particularly in the UK, are utter twats. If the next pandemic has a higher death rate we’re absolutely stuffed.
