Do we need to isolate?

My DH and I attended his cousins wedding last sat and sunday (26th and 27th). It was pretty much all outside except the toilet etc but there was hugging hello and goodbye to family members.

One of his other cousins' flatmates has come down with covid so she tested and it came back positive yesterday (4th). It's been a week since we have seen her.

Do we need to isolate? we are a bit confused. it's unlikely she passed anything to us outside a week ago?

I think they only trace people who have been in contact up to 48 hours prior to symptoms starting so you’re probably good. If in doubt take a PCR but keep in mind you’ll be stuck isolating till it comes back and will have to fib to get one

I wouldn't think so. It's contact 48 hours before positive test

When did her symptoms begin?

If you saw her within 48 hours of the symptoms starting then you should isolate - your 10 days start from then.
If asymptomatic it's 48 hours before her test was done - not when result came back.

She didn't have any symptoms. she only tested cos her flatmate had it

It doesn’t sound like you’d have caught it from her, but the timeline suggests that she may have caught it from someone asymptomatic at the wedding.
