PCR. Do I need an NHS test? Email just says isolate and follow guidelines!

Who was the test through? Do they notify test and trace?

Are you home now?

Can you log the result on the NHS app?

We're at home, it was Randox fit to fly. Don't have the App. I have asked if they inform NHS so I can get a Covid recovery certificate after period of isolating. Don't know if they inform T & T , not heard from them but I have alerted close contacts.

A private company should, by law I think, report all results to PHE. So nhs T&T should contact you.
You could just go and get an nhs pcr test this afternoon if unsure. Results would be back tomorrow in most places.

I could get NHS test but that would be confused re dates wouldn't it?

It's a while since I've done one for symptoms, but IIRC you put in the date when they began

If you have none, use the date you tested positive on the private test

@RoseAndRose is that the NHS Covid App? Or normal NHS App?

I used Randox and tested positive on day 2, but it isn’t clear that they reported it, as I had to tell the government caller myself (was getting daily calls to check I was self isolating after arrival from an amber country). Only then did I get a call from test and trace. I was symptomatic but still did a lateral flow which was positive.

OP I would call 119 and find out from them about this. Anything on this thread about how this links up with NHS will just be speculation.

Thanks. After getting zero response to my emails to Randox , I did phone 119 and was told they would get his test results from the private testing company "in a few days" and that after the isolation period had passed, his normal NHS App would be updated to show his Covid recovery certificate.

Hi there, did they pass on the results?

There is no record in the system of my positive test, and one 119 agent told me there is no mechanism for recording private tests. So no Covid pass.

Now I really wish I had done an NHS the next day!

Also, zero response from Randox when I contacted them to ask about this.
