Hi,

Anyone know how long it takes for T&T to contact you if someone has given your details as a close contact?

ChristmasCovid · 03/07/2021 21:57

You should get a text almost immediately with a link to fill in some details online.
if that’s not done the calls start later that day or next.
How long have you been waiting?

Chunks1376 · 03/07/2021 22:01

The positive case spoke to T&T around 7pm and I’ve had a message from them to say they gave my details but nothing from T&T yet.

girlmom21 · 03/07/2021 22:13

I'd assume you'll hear within 24 hours absolute maximum but you should isolate now anyway.

ChristmasCovid · 04/07/2021 05:58

Get them to check they’ve given the correct mobile number - the initial text is automated and (almost) instant - I had the text when my husband was still on the phone to them.

rwalker · 04/07/2021 06:16

Complete non issue you know you've been in contact with positive case .
Why do you need T+T to tell you to isolate any intelligent person knows this all ready .

walksen · 04/07/2021 06:22

"Why do you need T+T to tell you to isolate any intelligent person knows this all ready"

Maybe their employer wants evidence of the legal requirement to isolate?

Chunks1376 · 04/07/2021 09:12

Still nothing - I’m due to go to some meetings for work that are really important, and I’m not sure how they’re going to feel about it if it’s not official.

Also, we are due to go away a next Saturday which will be day 10 since contact and not sure if we need to cancel. I’m just on my way for a PCR as taking this seriously but doesn’t seem to be any legal requirement. Maybe T&T deemed it as not close enough.

dementedpixie · 04/07/2021 09:16

Why are you going for a PCR?
You would still be in the incubation period and a negative doesn't mean you are free of covid

Because an employer may need proof of the need to isolate. You arent legally required to isolate unless told to by Test and Trace

The PCR result doesn't make a difference. It would be irresponsible to not isolate if you know you've been in close contact with someone who's got coronavirus.

There is, however, no legal obligation which I personally think is shitty as if you continue to go about your business you're knowingly putting others at risk.

Mindymomo · 04/07/2021 09:28

You could wait a couple of days before T&T get in contact, but if you know you’ve been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, then you isolate for 10 days since you saw that person, even if you get a negative PCR.

Chunks1376 · 04/07/2021 10:21

It’s just come through now and they advise to get a PCR test as soon as possible and on day 8 if negative. It does not remove the need for isolation.

Thanks for all the comments, just wanted to put my mind at ease as the rules are easy but the unknown of waiting is hard.

The guidance on being a close contact and getting a PCR was updated some time ago so I am not sure why people keep asking on here why people are getting them as if they are somehow wrong?

You are correct in that you don't get out of isolating with a negative result before the 10 days are up but the OP isquite correct in getting a test. It even says that you should get one as early as possible in the isolation period for contact tracing purposes.

The information is all here www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-for-contacts-of-people-with-possible-or-confirmed-coronavirus-covid-19-infection-who-do-not-live-with-the-person/guidance-for-contacts-of-people-with-possible-or-confirmed-coronavirus-covid-19-infection-who-do-not-live-with-the-person

Seriously ask whoever named you to call 119 to check the number T&T have for you is accurate- the texts advising you to isolate are automated- if you’ve not had one they’ve got the wrong number.

So employer today are asking for screenshots of contact in addition to the isolation notice provided, I don’t understand why they need screenshots from my phone. Would anyone else provide these?

They're asking because people are taking the piss with taking time off and blaming Covid. Send the screenshots.

My work ask for the negative PCR result evidence before letting you back into the office.

My DC tested positive last week - they were already in self-isolation due to their class being sent home.

After the positive PCR I was emailed by track and trace to download the app and fill it in. I will do a Google but in the mean, do I have download it etc?

The only contact DC has had is with us and we are self-isolating as required, so there is no one else to contact.

My DC tested positive last week. When I looked at the app it said you have to be 16 to use it which they aren’t so I didn’t continue. T&T rang us and recorded info but like you we had been isolating with other DC so not much to report. DC had been to school one day but school take care of that bit and we had contacted everyone ourselves anyway.

You could try to get onto this:

DCTS: Would you like to take part in a study to help reduce the number of people who have to self-isolate?

If you're a contact of a COVID-19 case and choose to take part, you may be asked to take a test at home every day for seven days and only have to isolate if the test shows that you are infected.

If you want to know more or to sign up to the study please visit: snapsurvey.phe.org.uk/dcts

Thanks - the Public Health England Daily Contact Testing Study (DCTS) Team ([email protected])

TheWayOfTheWorld · 06/07/2021 09:48

Thanks @CeeceeBloomingdale, I'll wait for them to call in that case.
