Nausea after Pfizer (2nd dose)?

Selfienamechange · 03/07/2021 17:10

Had my first Pfizer about 6 weeks ago - felt drained and flu-like for a couple of days.

Been trying to book my second but could only get weekend slots which I can’t do.

Went into pharmacy yesterday to pick up my prescriptions - they asked me if I needed the jab, I explained and they said they could do it there and then. I just did it without thinking too much about it.

Yesterday was my birthday, my sister is now here to go out for dinner tonight (haven’t seen her for months, have managed to get a baby sitter which is a very rare occurrence) and I feel rotten. Haven’t been able to eat today, feel nauseous and now feel a bit flushed although I don’t have a temp.

Is this a side effect of the jab or am I coming down with something else?

It sounds like side effects to me. How rotten for you on your birthday Thanks

Kanaloa · 03/07/2021 17:57

I’ve had this after both times. Sorry it’s ruined your birthday - if it’s any consolation mine was gone after a day or so.

Selfienamechange · 03/07/2021 17:57

Yeah, just looked more closely and it is on the list. Just taken an anti-sickness tablet and hopefully I’ll be able to eat at my probably one meal out this year.

I should have said i would go back next week!

I had nausea and flu like symptoms (on and off, weirdly) for about 4 days after my first Pfizer jab so I’d say it was a side effect. I hope it wears off soon!

If it's any help I felt very hungry after my first Pfizer. White carb hungry... had doorstops of beans on toast for breakfast the next day when I don't usually eat anything. I suspect this was my body fighting off nausea. Perhaps eating will help?

Wanttocry · 03/07/2021 18:36

I had a day or two of mild nausea, then a few hours of really severe “I am going to throw up right now” type of nausea after my first dose. But I wasn’t actually sick at any point.

Bobholll · 03/07/2021 19:14

Mild nausea here too. Also an upset stomach that’s still rumbling on a week later but could be a complete coincidence & I've just got a bit of a bug! 🤷🏼‍♀️

shouldistop · 03/07/2021 19:16

I was really nauseous within a few hours of the Pfizer

MsMeNz · 03/07/2021 19:18

Antadotaly and of course it carries person too person carries the pattern seems to be amongst nearly everyone I know, worse side effects are after 1st az and 2nd Pfizer one. I had mine Pfizer this morning and I think about 10 hours later I'm starting to feel a tad few side effects .

MsMeNz · 03/07/2021 19:18

Forgot to add was very close to throwing up about 3 Horus ago but held it in. Nusea since eased

Selfienamechange · 03/07/2021 23:31

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. I felt so sick all day, did make it out for dinner - didn’t manage much but it did help the nausea a bit. I did read earlier that the side effects can be worse after the second - I felt deathly after the first one but in a totally different way.

Did peoples side effects hit quite quickly after 2nd dose or take a day or two to really kick in? Feeling pretty rotten now and wondering if tomorrow will be worse. I’m such an idiot - I should have said I would go back next week rather than have it the only weekend I’ve had plans since Christmas!

I had my 2nd Pfizer on Friday evening andI felt the tiredness after a couple of hours.
Really sore arm too and general aches.
Also have a sore throat.
Was so tired going to bed earlier but couldn't sleep for ages
(Awake now due to baby but still finding it hard to go back to sleep)

Selfienamechange · 04/07/2021 08:54

I had an awful night last night and now raised gland(s?) in my armpit which really hurts. So probably in for a not great day but hopefully that will be it then. Everyone I know who’s had 2 had the AZ so I didn’t realise second could be worse with this one - at least hopefully others reading this will know and plan accordingly (eg don’t get it done when you have plans or on your birthday!)

A paramedic told me that AZ side-effects were worse on the first dose ; Pfizer on the second, in his experience of call outs and his own NHS colleagues. I had the side-effects you describe with my first AZ dose and they ruined a Saturday. I also had the towering carbohydrate-craving described by PP the next day. Sorry to hear about your birthday and I hope you feel a lot better today. X

Selfienamechange · 05/07/2021 07:53

Thanks all - feel a bit better this morning but my armpit is still so painful. There’s no big obvious raised gland to the touch, but if I press on the area it really hurts, and just generally aches the rest of the time. It’s on the side where I had the jab so it makes sense, I just haven’t really heard of anyone having this.

Oops - posted too soon!

Meant to add that I then looked it up and saw it is a common side effect, even more after the second jab. So hopefully anyone reading these threads to get an idea of what to expect will not worry if they get the same :)
