Antibody test

Sadless · 03/07/2021 14:12

Hi all I signed up to do a antibody test through the zoe app. It arrived yesterday and luckily doesn't have a tube to fill up with blood. It has like a paper card to put the blood on.
But scared of doing the finger prick thing.

Any advice on how to do it quickly

Sal

You just have to do it - it’s fine, doesn’t really hurt. Was easier than I thought when I did mine.

I received the same on Thursday, mine does have a tube though. Looks huge, I'm sure I never bleed that much when cut so have been putting it off.
Plan to do it on Monday, drink a load of water, go on a brisk walk then come back and give it a go. Good luck

I will try to be brave and do it tomorrow afternoon should be fine unless I faint. I would ask the husband but he will say I am being stupid but bet he wouldnt want to do it.

Thank s

Sal

Do you have a "lancet" to do it? It's easy. Just position the lancet, press the top as instructed, firmly, not hard, keep pressing, after a second or two you'll hear a click. When you remove the lancet you'll see a drop of blood. There's nothing you can do to mess it up, it all happens automatically. You could get someone to do it for you.

I've done two antibody tests, one was to fill a bottle and I needed to prick two fingers, so that's three pricks in all and I didn't feel any of them.

How do you apply to do one through the Zoe App?

Hax · 03/07/2021 16:30

I think the Zoe ones were to check for antibodies if you had covid, not the vaccine test.
Those who have to fill a test tube, I've done a lot of these.
Jump up and down to really get your heart rate up.
Soak hand in hot water.
Prick on the side facing down so you don't have to contort yourself to drip in the tube.

There's a nack to it.

Warm your fingers up first, prick, and sort of milk your finger downwards dripping into the tube

I recently did the Zoe app one, took 3 attempts to get a good flow of blood - the best was on the tip of my ring finger. I'll be honest, that one hurt the most, but it was worth it as it was over quickly as it was really dripping!

I had a hot shower and then ran my hand under the hot tap (as hot as I could stand) before I did mine and I filled the tube with no effort at all, couldn’t stop the bleeding though! 😂
