WWYD - isolation period

DS developed sore throat and mild fever last Thursday (24th). Took him for a PCR on Friday 25th which came back negative. Much better over the weekend so back to school Monday.

Wednesday we had an email to say his year group were being sent home immediately and advised to test him as a close contact. Fully expected that to be negative but it came back positive Shock. 3 others also had positive results so year group now out until 12th.

Track and trace want our household isolation to start from his original symptoms (even though he tested negative at that time) which means we're allowed out on Wednesday 7th. Actually I'm not even sure how they've come up with that date because that's not 10 days either Confused

Sorry this is getting long! So, would you isolate until 7th? Or 10 days from positive test? Or 10 days from symptoms?

Got to love track & trace. I would isolate 10 days from the positive as he was technically asymptomatic when he had the second PCR test.

That's my feeling too, but DH is desperate to just go with the earlier date (self employed workaholic)

There’s no sense or consistency in what T&T say! There’s a day 0 thrown in for good measure but even with that, your dates don’t add up to 11 days. I agree with the person that said go with the date of the positive test. Can your husband not work from home?

I’d go with TTP.
