Second dose in a different country

I live in Italy. I had my first dose a month ago (Pfizer). Found out I was pregnant the night i got the vaccine at 3 weeks (very early bfp). I am now 7 weeks. My next dose is next week, and then I go back to the UK for the summer a few days later. I went to the doctor today who told me I cannot get it before 12 weeks here and my best bet is to try to get it in the UK, where they seem to give it at any stage of pregnancy.

Does anyone know if this is possible? What will happen if I wait until after 12 weeks and get it later in the pregnancy? The staff at the doctors seemed to think this would be too long a gap.

The 2 doses are given at an interval of 8 - 12 weeks in the UK. I dont think any old person can turn up and get the injection in the UK. How would they register who had had it if you don't live in the UK?

That's what I thought too!

You can get a 2nd dose here in England if you had a 1st dose abroad. See page 13 here.

You can also get it if you aren’t registered with a GP and don’t have an NHS number. You need to either approach a GP close to where you are staying in the UK, or find a walk in clinic doing Pfizer and explain your situation. Check the local Council’s social media to see what’s being put on. The vaccination still gets recorded fine.

You can get it at any stage of pregnancy. We’re doing an 8 week gap between doses for those aged 40 and over and 12 weeks for those aged under 40.

Re leaving a longer than recommended gap, the advice about that is on page 15 here. In England, basically you can still get it because it’s better to get it late than not at all.

@Wigeon thank you! It's actually Norther Ireland I'm going to. I'm assuming it will be similar.
