Do they need PCR after positive lateral flow?

Currently isolating as Ds1 positive for Covid, confirmed with PCR after positive lateral follow. DS2 is now glaringly positive on a lateral flow. It was so difficult to get him to do the test, do I really need to confirm with PCR, He has symptoms and to be it’s obv he has Covid caught from his DB. School don’t need to see one and he will be isolating. He has had no contact with anyone as we have all been isolating for over a week.

I wouldn't. Safe to assume he has it and will be isolating anyway if your other DC is positive, wouldn't put him through the extra discomfort. Hope they get better soon.

As long as you start a new 10 day isolation period from the start of his symptoms for him (I think the rest of you stick to the original ten days unless you start showing symptoms/get a positive test) then you don’t have to have a PCR.

I don’t know what requirements you might need to fulfil for work/school though regarding evidencing time off etc.

Technically you're supposed to but I wouldn't bother. You've been isolating so no need for test and trace, just extend the isolation for a few days
