119 keep hanging up on me?

I'm trying to bring forward my second vaccine jab, but I would prefer to have it at a different centre to the first one (originally had to book an hour's drive away as it was the only place with availability at the time, and booked my second appointment at the same time as my first).

The website only lets you bring it forward if you're booking at the same centre. I have called 119 twice now and never get through to anyone - I go through the menus, get to "hold to speak to an advisor" and the call goes dead! Is this normal? Is there any point trying again? It takes ages and six options to get to that point which is annoying when I'm trying to work, it's not just a case of sticking it on hold!

It most likely means that they are overwhelmed with calls.

The website showed me lots of local options to switch to.

Perhaps there are no other sites with availability where you are.

I could never get through on the phone either.

As far as I know 119 only have the same options you do on the website. I and several people have changed site when bringing a second jab forward, you just cancel the one already booked and it gives you the full range of sites with appointments.

I'll try again on the site then, I honestly only got my original site when I looked last week. I get they might be busy but at least put a message on instead of abruptly cutting the call off! I thought I must have selected the wrong option or something.

The website shows other locations, I moved DH's location. 119 won't have access to any special extra slots, you just have to pick from what's available.

I changed my location using the website. I had to cancel my original appointment then re-book and got lots of options to places closer to home (I had my first one near my work)

Smartiepants79 · 01/07/2021 09:20

I moved my second jab and changed the venue, all online

pinkflask · 01/07/2021 09:21

Yes, that's what I've ended up doing - I wish they'd make it clearer that there were more options available after you press cancel! I didn't think 119 would have anything special, but honestly why can't it just SAY on the front page that you can change the location on the website?

The website showed me several alternatives when I brought mine forward. Perhaps that centre is the only one with the type of vax you need?

The site seems to glitch sometimes. DD was only offered sites 200 miles away to start with, and then re-logged in & got the local ones.
