Rates are rocketing and things are planned to relax (yay)... I'm now feeling like I can't go out and do anything despite everything being open because if I do I'll probably be contacted and told to isolate!!!!
Anyone else feeling so trapped!!

Nope because unless symptoms or a decent amount of time spent around a covid positive person I’m not isolating. Pawing an infected person for 12 seconds in Costa won’t have me isolating! Fuck the stupid rules- the vaccine program is protecting the vulnerable, the deaths and hospital admissions are what matter here, case numbers alone mean little

SpringRainbow · 30/06/2021 17:33

The reason it seems is because although case rates may be high but hospitalisations and deaths are remaining low.

We have a very high number of cases today but the death rate is 14 (which apparently is lower than last week).

I have been waiting to see what the scientists feel about restrictions being relaxed on the 19th.

There hasn’t been the calls for cautious and scary predictions that there was last time with the 21st June.

In fact Chris Witty came out and said he agrees with the Government, that we should relax what we can.

It seems mad because up until now high case have always equalled high hospitalisations and deaths, but it just doesn’t seem to be happening this time.

It seems that the vaccine has done what the scientists said it would, reduced the severity of Covid.

I'm staying home as being pawed in Costa is not my idea of fun. Each to their own.

Well said.

Sometimes people step out the way of me if we are walking towards each other on the pavement and I often think, “What do they really think is going to happen in the two seconds it would take us to walk past each other?!”

Madness.

It’s madness.

Whoops passing not pawed. Grin

Seriouslymole · 30/06/2021 17:39

@OnlyFoolsnMothers - I was wondering what went on in your Costa that doesn’t in ours…

I assumed that pawing was a description of what Hancock was doing.

I’ve been stuck working from home with my dog but even I haven’t started pawing people yet 😂. Just don’t have the app one your phone, job done!

I have been waiting to see what the scientists feel about restrictions being relaxed on the 19th.

I was listening to one professor of epidemiology speaking on the BBC last week (forgotten his name but not one of the usual BBC regular guests) and he said he'd definitely be avoiding any crowded indoor gatherings for the foreseeable future. Infection rates are expected to be even higher by 19th July so just comes down to if you think going somewhere is worth the risk of catching covid for you personally.

It seems to be mostly down to "personal responsibility" now although of course it's not that simple if you have to go to work or have kids at school.
