Hi there,
Sorry if asked before but I've just had an alert to self isolate. I can only think it's come from one of 3 pubs I went in on Saturday but never had contact with anyone. I was about to get my nails done so cancelled that but I'm meant to be going for a meal on Friday night and getting second jab on Saturday wwyd?

Isolate.

NavigatingAdolescence · 30/06/2021 17:11

You went to 3 pubs on your own and nobody came within 2m of you?! Really?!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 30/06/2021 17:12

Isolate obviously.

SwanShaped · 30/06/2021 17:14

There’s another thread currently. OP was advised to delete the app. So the responses you get will depend on who’s online at the time.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 30/06/2021 17:17

Anyone who is asked to isolate and instead deletes the app is a massive cock.

Mostly you have to ask yourself what would Boris do?

I didnt go on my own. I went with my friend. Closest was a bar but we were sat outside. First pub and second we were sat away from others.

I'd delete it and I have done. But I'm a dick.

The app isn't legally binding or connected to Test and Trace. Its literally a bluetooth thing and is not fit for purpose. My friend got pinged because her next door neighbour tested positive. It pinged through a solid brick wall and she had had no direct contact with them. Only knew as she heard them shouting about it in the garden.

If you can afford to not go to work because of it, then isolate. Turn off contact tracing if you are going to keep it.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 30/06/2021 17:39

Luckily I wfh but I'm meant to be getting my second jab and going out with a mate at the weekend so it's really annoying.

Ask yourself what would the Scotland football team do?

I’m sure it is annoying, millions of people have been in the same situation. My daughters missed school for ten days which is annoying too, she’s doing A level and has had to isolate twice so 20 days off on top of lockdown. I’m sure you will survive missing out on a trip out at the weekend with your friend?
bettybyebye · 30/06/2021 17:44

Yup - what would Bojo/Hancock/Gove do??
I have never had the app but there’s no way I would isolate if I were you.
Delete the app now

Scottishskifun · 30/06/2021 17:46

I would book a test if negative then I would delete the app and carry on tbh! You are 4days past potential exposure if you have contracted it it will show up on a test most people are 3-5days from exposure.

Track and trace are swamped they are only contacting direct contacts at the moment so if you didn't have the app on your phone of a proximity element then you wouldn't be contacted by them to self isolate.
But the test would give you reassurance!

Outside transmission is very low unless in direct face to face contact or in close proximity. Indoors it depends on if the bars were well ventilated with windows open.

If Bojo/Hansnog/Gove wanted us to self isolate properly then they would by now have made sure there were standard payments to those who have to isolate.
Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 30/06/2021 18:49

@Lovemusic33 I'm sorry for your daughter and it's a shit situation. No need to be hostile though Smile

LightasaBreeze · 30/06/2021 18:57

If you didn't have the app, then you wouldn't get the alert, I had the app for 5 minutes, looked at it and deleted, it's a pretty rubbish app anyway.

PurpleDaisies · 30/06/2021 19:04

How long are you supposed to self isolate for? You can check when your exposure date was in the app. It doesn’t always calculate correctly.

PurpleyBlue · 30/06/2021 19:06

@Myusernameisnotmyusernameno

I'd reschedule the jab and maybe your mate could drop round some self isolation supplies and wave from afar?.
Swishswish26 · 30/06/2021 19:08

The thing is, most people don’t have the app anymore so would be entirely unaware they had been in contact with a positive case.. myself included.
Only you can decide what to do.

Dave20 · 30/06/2021 19:10

I mentioned this on another thread regarding classes isolating, how long can self isolating go on for?
How long will employers allow it? Surely some self employed people won’t be able to keep isolating, for something they may not even have?
What about people who will take the piss and isolate at the drop of a hat ( for time off) because their employers will pay them?

PurpleDaisies · 30/06/2021 19:16

What’s that got to do with the op’s situation @Dave20? She works from home. Maybe start your own thread to discuss what’s clearly a pet thing for you.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 30/06/2021 19:17

It's saying 7 days. 'Exposure' was on 26th.

OP posts:
Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 30/06/2021 19:18

I've also ordered those lateral flow tests

OP posts:
Starlightstarbright1 · 30/06/2021 19:18

I turned the contact tracing off. I only use it if i need to check in anywhere..

I am self employed and can't afford to self isolate for no direct contact
