Missing pieces from LFT

Has anyone else explerienced missing pieces from the Lateral Flow Test kits provided by the school?

This is the second time it’s happened.

At home we now have 3 sticks, 4 result plastic bars, one capsule to put the liquid in - and no liquid ampules.

I’ll ask the school to provide another box but clearly something isn’t right. We have been very careful and no, we haven’t thrown anything away by accident.

I had that the other day! 4 of everything except the capsules. I assumed I’d accidentally thrown them away, which is just as likely tbh. Can’t be helping Dido’s figures...

Ktay · 28/06/2021 07:28

We have a mix of kits from school and kits from the pharmacy, not sure which this was. They look almost identical, just different shape box.

dementedpixie · 28/06/2021 07:33

They seem to put them in the instruction booklet and then you think they are missing

NautaOcts · 28/06/2021 07:37

Yep I had one big box with no liquid ampules either

NautaOcts · 28/06/2021 07:38

I tipped out everything and checked and checked

spotcheck · 28/06/2021 07:40

One of my boxes was short one part

UmbilicusProfundus · 28/06/2021 07:42

Is there any alternative to the buffering solution as I seem to have misplaced mine Confused

HandScreen · 28/06/2021 07:43

Just get more?

StealthPolarBear · 28/06/2021 07:43

They're tightly wrapped in the booklet

LadyLyndon · 28/06/2021 07:46

I’ll ask DD to get more from school. We have had some liquid ampules but not enough, clearly.

Interesting to see that I’m not the only one. The plastic strips have serial numbers on so now I have contributed to an extra 4 missing LFTs.

BeckyWithTheCurls · 28/06/2021 07:58

I thought the same but they were in the folds of the booklet.

Howshouldibehave · 28/06/2021 08:03

The liquid vials are always tucked away hidden inside the instructions. I don’t know if my vials are evaporating or if they just don’t have enough liquid in but I’ve had to do several tests sometimes when there is just no liquid left by the time I go to do the squeezing onto the test kit! It’s just all been sucked up onto the swab!

Ktay · 28/06/2021 08:12

We were midway through our pack when I realised they were missing so me binning them is most likely scenario.

You can get the kits from loads of pharmacies, they are just the same.

gingercat02 · 28/06/2021 08:15

The little fluid ampules of get lost in the information leaflet with ours. I thought there weren't any in 2 boxes until I discovered that

Scarby9 · 28/06/2021 08:16

Every time I or someone else has said the liquid ampoules were missing, they have been tightly folded in the instructions booklet.
I had recycled mine immediately (know how to do the tests) and had to retrieve the booklet from the bin, protesting that they definitely weren't in there, but they were.

HappilyHadesBound · 28/06/2021 08:40

It's definitely that damn instruction book! What a ridiculous place to put the liquids.

LadyLyndon · 28/06/2021 08:50

We’ve had half the amount of ampules so it isn’t all or nothing in our case. And we’re also short of the mini plastic test tubes (with the stopper) that you put the liquid into.

OP posts:
yeahdarling · 28/06/2021 08:55

Either they've been thrown away or there's a packaging error that's nothing to do with the school.

Just ask for another box.

LadyLyndon · 28/06/2021 09:20

I’m not blaming the school! All they do is hand out the ore-packaged kits!

OP posts:
DobbyTheHouseElk · 28/06/2021 09:22

Folded up in the instructions leaflet. Everytime.

wobytide · 28/06/2021 09:36

Just go and get additional kits from a test centre that is handing them out

yeahdarling · 28/06/2021 09:46

Glad you're not blaming the school. Your opening post was written almost like there was a conspiracy otherwise why mention they'd come from a school?

I had some missing bits from some of my boxes. I didn't give it a second thought.

LadyLyndon · 28/06/2021 10:46

Many apologies for the clumsy writing. The schools are given big boxes of the packs and then hand them out to the students. That’s it. If there’s any conspiracy to be had it’s by the packers and government providers.

Conspiracy is your word, however.

You are supposed to squeeze the vial as you pull the swab back out so that you are squeezing the liquid on the swab against the inside of the vial.
