Please can you guide me?
9 year old dd had Covid symptoms and a positive test two weeks ago, we've done the isolation period (well 14 days now) and all the family are well. However, the PCR is still coming back positive and school say that she has to stay off until she produces a negative PCR, is that right?
I've heard it can take weeks to go negative again so I'm getting stressed!!
Thanks for your help.

No that's not right. You shouldn't be testing within 90 days of a positive test as it can still pick up fragments of the old infection even when you are no longer contagious.

Once the isolation has been completed (10 days) and they don't have a temperature then they are free to get back to normal

Fairly sure that’s incorrect.
It took my colleague ( teacher) over 70 days to register a negative result.
If she is well and has done her isolation she can return to school.

From .gov website;

Anyone who has previously received a positive COVID-19PCRtest result should not be re-tested within 90 days of that test, unless they develop any new symptoms of COVID-19.

No you can’t test for 90 days after testing positive. You’ve done isolation so you can go back to school .

www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection quote is from this page under the heading Testing after your isolation period has ended

School is wrong. Do point this out to them. Kids need to be in school as much as they can be, they need to be made aware of the actual requirements. Surprised they're pulling this, how many others have they not allowed back in?

I tested positive for around 100 days so just ignore it, and send her back.
