Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to order PCR tests to have 'on standby' or do they have to be used and returned within a set time?
Just thought it might save a bit of time if one of my lateral flows I do for work comes up positive.

Surely you'd have to say you had symptoms to get one and then they'd be waiting to have it back? And if you never used it, that's a waste of resources (environmentally and financially).

Can you get to a drive-in centre or do you have to have a home kit? DD needed a test this week. We went to a drive-in and got the result the same day (9 hrs). Much quicker than posting off a test kit.

I’m not sure, but when ordering them they have arrived the following day so not much of a wait anyway

No need, I ordered one 2pm on Thursday and it was with me at 9am the next day

No, you have to meet the criteria in order to order one from the NHS.

No. You have about 48h to use it after it arrives.
