Would you have the jab annually if this was the only option to keep virus at bay?

Just discussing the pandemic with my DH and we were discussing vaccination. We have both been double jabbed and we were discussing if it became necessary to have it annually like the flu jab- would you have it every year?? I said yes (I had very few side effects from jab) he said no way (he felt ill for days after both jabs!). We are both in our 40's with no health conditions.

I’d take it.

I have a flu jab every year.

Bells3032 · 26/06/2021 10:44

Yes. Started having flu jabs at 21 (when my mother had cancer) and had one every year since. Wouldn't care if it was an extra shot. Always have a slightly achy arm after but better than getting flu/covid.

I'm 32 now BTW

Definitely- CEV person in the household for whom the jab may not work well.

Cassandraprobs · 26/06/2021 11:04

I would, even with some side effects - I already pay to get the flu jab annually and that knocks me sideways for 2-3 days but I book it for in quiet times at work & before a weekend. Never mind the health aspect, I can't afford to be ill for weeks.

Floobydo · 26/06/2021 11:12

I don’t know if I would - I don’t get the flu jab every year because I don’t really see the need. Have never had flu (touch wood) and am not particularly at risk from Covid either.

KindnessMyFriends · 26/06/2021 11:14

Absolutely. I fully expect this to happen. Hopefully I can get it at the same time as my flu jab for convenience.

Karmatime · 26/06/2021 11:16

I would, I also pay for a flu jab every year. It never used to occur to me and then I got flu, which wiped me out completely for 2 weeks and took over a month to get over completely. I had more side effects with the Covid jab (AZ) than I do with the flu jab but they only lasted 24 hours and weren’t that bad.

everybodysang · 26/06/2021 11:17

God YES. And I had awful side effects from the first one too. I'll do anything it takes for us to get back to normal (and also not get Covid, which I had last year and it was horrible)

ChaBishkoot · 26/06/2021 11:19

Yes of course. And I know a combined flu/Covid jab is being trialled as well. I’ll have it in whatever combination.

flippertygibbit · 26/06/2021 11:43

No.

I didn't particularly want to have the first two but I was desperate to get back to some sort of normality. When they announced the possible requirement of a booster I felt somewhat conned.

I don't take the flu jab even though I am CEV and have never had the flu and have nursed my DP through a proper flu twice in over 25 years so don't appear to be susceptible.

LightasaBreeze · 26/06/2021 12:10

No

purplesequins · 26/06/2021 12:12

yes I would.
I have the flu jab yearly already.

TheKeatingFive · 26/06/2021 12:14

Sure. It doesn’t feel like that big a deal to me.

Ultimately though, I doubt someone of my age/health will need to.

gillysSong · 26/06/2021 12:15

No, I won't have any covid jabs yet.

SirSamuelVimes · 26/06/2021 12:17

No. I am not at risk from Covid (had it right at the start of all this, was fine). I don't have a fly jab because I'm not at risk.

Mass, yearly vaccinations for all adults (and teens? And children?) most of whom do not have a medical need is insane. It will bankrupt the NHS.

TheKeatingFive · 26/06/2021 12:18

It will bankrupt the NHS.

It’s a hell of a lot cheaper than the cost if further lockdowns.

It indeed increasing nhs capacity by a significant amount.

TheKeatingFive · 26/06/2021 12:18

Or indeed

SirSamuelVimes · 26/06/2021 12:18

Should have said - I've had my first jab and waiting on second. Am only doing it as it seems to be the best way to get the government to let us out of this mess. But I will not support yearly boosters for the whole population. Vulnerable, yes. Everyone, no.

NotJustACigar · 26/06/2021 12:19

Yes and I think that's the most likely way out of this, so I'd be happy to have it for myself and to protect others.

Sonarl · 26/06/2021 12:20

Yes, like I get flu.

Warhertisuff · 26/06/2021 12:20

Of course

CaptainMyCaptain · 26/06/2021 12:21

Definitely. The same as the flu jab.

Worldgonecrazy · 26/06/2021 12:21

No.

NekoShiro · 26/06/2021 12:23

Yes, it won't always knock you out

ancientgran · 26/06/2021 12:27

I've had the flu jab every year for the last 10 years, maybe longer, so yes I'd happily have it and hopefully have a normal life.
