Would you have the jab annually if this was the only option to keep virus at bay?

Just discussing the pandemic with my DH and we were discussing vaccination. We have both been double jabbed and we were discussing if it became necessary to have it annually like the flu jab- would you have it every year?? I said yes (I had very few side effects from jab) he said no way (he felt ill for days after both jabs!). We are both in our 40's with no health conditions.

I'm on the Johnson and Johnson trial. It's approved for one jab, and the trial is reporting very few side effects - I actually thought I'd had the placebo until I was unblinded.

cptartapp · 26/06/2021 08:59

No. But like the flu jab I'd consider both when I deem I would be high risk enough for it to be being given primarily for my benefit.

Madhairday · 26/06/2021 09:02

Definitely. I am CEV and have the flu jab every year, so no brainer, but would anyway.

pourmeanotherglass · 26/06/2021 09:04

Yes, I get the flu jab at work every year ( hospital worker)

ScarlettSunset · 26/06/2021 09:08

I would, but I think they would need to make it easy and convenient to get it. Where I live, the local GP was doing the initial jabs but stopped after the over 50s were done. Everyone I know who's had one since then has had to travel elsewhere to get theirs.

dementedma · 26/06/2021 09:08

Yes if it means I get my life back

teenagetantrums · 26/06/2021 09:12

Maybe as long as it's the pizer as l had that this time. I have never had a flu jab although l can get it free as l work in a care home
I probably won't have a choice anyway as it will probably be compulsory for us.

SamMil · 26/06/2021 09:13

Yes

Desperatelyseekingreason · 26/06/2021 09:15

Yes.

And I wonder if those that don't have a free flu jab have ever had flu. I've had it twice and it completely wipes you out and is nothing like a bad cold.

Worrysaboutalot · 26/06/2021 09:16

Yes. Just like the flu jab I have now.

Shapesorted · 26/06/2021 09:19

Yes as long as it's free. I'm not eligible for the flu vaccine even though I work in a very germy environment.

SmallestInTheClass · 26/06/2021 09:20

Yes.

Backhills · 26/06/2021 09:21

I don't think this is a straightforward decision for lots of people.

I didn't have any side effects, but several people at work needed up to a week off. For some people that would be unpaid. If you're in a group unlikely to become seriously ill from the virus I can see why you'd take your chances.

ilovesooty · 26/06/2021 09:23

Yes. I'd pay if necessary. I have a flu vaccination annually and I'm vaccinated against pneumonia as well.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 26/06/2021 09:24

Why would there be any problem with that? I've had the flu and pneumonia jabs at the same appointment before, kids get vaccinated against multiple diseases at once, every day we come into contact with multiple bacteria, fungi and viruses.

A second jab in the doctor's/pharmacy doesn't bother me at all - and maybe in time they'll be able to produce an annual combined vaccination, which would be even more convenient.

Misread this as 'anally' Grin But yes, I would have it anually.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 26/06/2021 09:27

*anNually even. Clearly didn't get enough sleep last night.

ineedaholidaynow · 26/06/2021 09:32

Yes.

For those who don’t have the flu jab, I now feel that I should have it (was offered it this year for the first time) not only for me but (like the COVID jab) I assume it offers that extra protection to elderly relatives (if both jabbed less likely to have it and pass it on)

minniemoll · 26/06/2021 09:34

I'd happily have a booster every year.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 26/06/2021 09:36

Hell, if it means I'll never again have the feeling of being slowly crushed to death and being waterboarded in my sleep, together with a one year recovery period to get my heart, lungs and muscles to the level of being able to actually hold myself up and cover 15,000 steps a day from 26 this time last year - I'll bend over.
Chickychickydodah · 26/06/2021 09:37

Yes, and would be happy to pay for it too like the flu jab.

Yep, me too ⬆️

TreaslakeandBack · 26/06/2021 09:39

Of course! And would pay for it

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 26/06/2021 09:48

@NeverDropYourMoonCup blimey Shock I would too. Hope your recovery continues - sounds like you've done amazing well.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 26/06/2021 09:49

*amazingly.

My autocorrect is such a twat.

RhubarbTea · 26/06/2021 10:15

Hell no.
