Delta + variant - new symptoms

Sitting at home with my daughter who is off from nursery with a viral infection, as diagnosed by the doctor, and I’ve just read this article advising that all her symptoms are potentially the new Covid variant:

metro.co.uk/2021/06/23/covid-delta-plus-variant-what-is-it-symptoms-and-is-it-in-the-uk-14815839/

So bearing in mind that she doesn’t have the symptoms required for a PCR test, would you take her for one? Based on past experience it is quite an ordeal getting her tested. I don’t want to over or under react.

How did the doctor diagnose a viral infection and what symptoms does your daughter have exactly?

Yes I would test. Even to put your mind at rest.

Kids at dds school tested positive after only having hay fever symptoms.

I'd test because if she develops a cough that's hard to shift then you'll need the result, and you may as well get the isolating-for-results time out of the way when you're home anyway. If she's very poorly then get a home test, but they do take a day to arrive and our results were 36 hours after posting, so to ensure results for Monday going back to nursery you might be better travelling to a test site today.

I would test particularly if shes been in nursery

I'm surprised the gp didnt ask for one or check symptoms before seeing her.
