Dental issues after vaccine?

Abet08x · 23/06/2021 21:16

I had my first Pfizer vaccine last Friday and since then I’ve been uncontrollably tired (which I know is ‘normal’), had horrible stomach pains and my hayfever has gotten worst. However I also seem to have had dental issues.

My whole mouth hurts, my teeth feel like they are going to fall out, I can taste blood, my wisdom teeth ache and whenever I eat it all just is in pain.

Has anybody else had any dental/mouth issues? I’m about to ‘yellow card’ my symptoms but wanted to get some actual human experience, if any?

I’m 27 btw x

My front teeth were sensitive after Pfizer but I figured it was coincidental!

Cindy974 · 23/06/2021 21:24

My mum, friend and one of my mum’s colleagues did after theirs. Report it to yellow card

Abet08x · 23/06/2021 21:26

Absolutely going to report it. My teeth are not the absolute best, but I try my hardest with looking after them, I’ve just never felt pain like this! Just had a look and my gums are all swollen at the back.

Yes my teeth were very painful, like braces tightening pain and sensitive. Woken up in the night by the pain. I had pfizer too and did attribute it to the vaccine.

TreaslakeandBack · 24/06/2021 06:40

Dentist and vaccinator.
Highly likely to be a coincidence!

justanotherneighinparadise · 24/06/2021 06:45

Interesting! I had dental pain which took me to the dentist recently for a raft of X-rays. Why would it cause dental pain though!?

CrunchyCarrot · 24/06/2021 06:47

Sounds nasty, OP. Definitely yellow card it. Try some hot salty water rinses around your gums, that may help.

gymnasticrobotics · 24/06/2021 08:22

I had that after my AZ vaccine, it was strange as it was affecting my whole mouth not localised. It took more than a week for it to go away naturally. Do report it, I did.

Taciturn · 24/06/2021 10:33

There are other reports of this and also no identifiable cause when consulting with a dentist. Dental issues can be related to heart - perhaps speak with GP.

eurochick · 24/06/2021 10:47

Weird. My gums were really sore and my teeth sensitive recently. Until this thread I hadn't linked the timing with the vaccine but it was after my first jab. How strange.

Abet08x · 24/06/2021 12:41

Oo that has worried me a bit! I forgot the vaccine affected your heart. I’ll see how I go today and if it’s no better tomorrow, I’ll contact the doctor.

I am also starting to think, maybe it’s just my wisdom teeth which are the issue.

They’ve never grown through properly and do cause problems probably twice a year or so. Maybe the vaccine, has caused my body’s system to go into fight mode & it’s made them flame up.

Bit worried it could be a bit more sinister, doesn’t help that I’m surrounded by a lot of people who don’t believe in the vaccine and me having such a bad reaction so far, is causing them all to do the usual ‘told you so’ 🙄🙄

Yes I had bleeding gums a week after first jab and not before or after. Assumed it was a side effect. Tried not to worry about it too much. Now 4 days after second jab. AZ

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 24/06/2021 16:05

If your hayfever's flared up (and it's awful at the moment) your sinuses could be blocked or inflamed which can cause mouth pain. Antihistamines would sort that, though.

It's worth checking with a dentist if you're concerned.

Usual2usual · 24/06/2021 16:18

I had my vaccine last week and suffering the past few days with very painful gums and wisdom teeth. I honestly wouldn't have thought to connect the two but maybe you are right.

Abet08x · 24/06/2021 16:21

I’ve been taking strong antihestimines and they don’t stop the mouth pain, just the general hayfever feeling ☹️

I had this too, my whole mouth so sore and fragile. The skin kept breaking down. I was AZ but I'd not linked the two in my head until now.
Abet08x · 24/06/2021 16:22

It’s not any consolation but at least we’re in it together!

I had Pfizer on 4th April and 7th June, and my teeth have suddenly gone really sensitive this week! I saw the dentist about a month ago and he said everything was fine so I've been puzzled by this.

IrmaFayLear · 24/06/2021 18:18

I had dreadful toothache yesterday.

Guess what? I hadn’t had a vaccine.

Did no one ever get a random pain before ?

ReadySalt · 24/06/2021 21:24

I had the Pfizer end of May, a few days later I started with tooth pain on the left side of my mouth, sometimes top, sometimes bottom. I have booked a dentist appointment (NHS) and they have cancelled so have rebooked for a couple of weeks. It is not agonising tooth pain, paracetamol kills it for a few hours. I personally think it is related, if my dentist appointment goes ahead I will report back.

Lampzade · 20/07/2021 11:41

I am glad that I found this thread.
I had my second dose of AZ last week and now have a sore mouth and cannot eat anything.

MsMoneyPennie · 20/07/2021 11:49

My mum was saying about this back in May, she was convinced they were linked. Teeth feeling like they were going to fall out, taste of blood. I tried to convince her to report it, but she didn't. It's probably harmless, but helps reassure people if they one they're not the only one getting a side effect, and also means the effect can be investigated and monitored if its reported.

Exactly this. Plus the OP has a known problem which flares up a couple of times a year, so I’m not sure why another flare up should be assumed to be vaccine related.
PurpleFadesToGreen · 20/07/2021 13:37

I had really sensitive teeth after having actual covid.

I usually use a sensitive toothpaste anyway but that didn't help.

Had to take painkillers in the end.

Went away after about 8 weeks, was painful and odd!
