To be vaccinated in Canada?

Hubby & I are relocating to Canada. (Family there and we are citizens)

We are 40 & 41 and had our first dose of AstraZeneca in the UK.

Our family in Canada who have received AstraZeneca have all now had Pfizer as their second dose.

Mum has suggested that me and H wait for our second doses and have them in Canada where we will also be able to get Pfizer.

We are registered medically there so we don’t see it being an issue obtaining a vaccine.

We’re both really swaying towards this idea but can’t decide if we’re just better off having AZ here.

How many extra weeks delay of the second vaccination would that mean? I'd decide based on that.

We managed to move our appointments here to
get vaccinated earlier, but the 12 weeks would be after we’ve arrived in Canada. (Only just)

I’d finish it here, purely because you’re going through airports/planes/etc with lots of other people, and a single AZ doesn’t offer that much protection against the Delta variant.

It’d seem far less risky to me to do it fully vaccinated. You might be lucky, but one or both of you might not be… that seems a nonsensical risk to me, in a new country. But it’s your risk and your decision.

Enjoy Canada!

@TakeYourFinalPosition

We had thought that, however we did both have Covid last year.
I’m aware that doesn’t mean we can’t of course get it again, but if feels relatively low risk having had Covid and 1 vaccine.

I’d not really considered the Delta variant risk. That’s definitely something to consider.
