Question about isolation grant

8 replies

Catlover10 · 22/06/2021 17:36

My partner works at a nursery and another member of staff has tested positive. In their “bubble” so he has to isolate for 10 days , not showing any symptoms so far though.

We have limited money as it is as I’m not working (on joint universal credit). Does this situation mean we are entitled to apply for any isolation grant or not? Haven’t been in this situation before so not sure what to do!

If you look on your local council website there will be info. (I think universal credit might qualify you but am not at all sure.)

Are they only getting stat sick pay?
I would apply.

@JanFebAnyMonth I believe universal credit does make us eligible for something, just can’t seem to work out what that something actually is !

@kimlo yes all the staff having to isolate get statutory sick pay, just can’t work out how or where to apply for this so called grant

From what I’ve read you can only apply for the grant if youve been told by test and trace to isolate, but in this case it was the workplace that told us to as they have had to shut for 10 days

the setting is acting on behalf of test and trace, so that wont be a problem. Ring theor boss they should know, becaise they should also be telling the parents about ot.

@kimlo great thank you!

www.gov.uk/test-and-trace-support-payment

it does look like you would be able to get it, an email from the setting would be enough to act as proof. My setting emails everybody anyway, but it wouldn't take much for the manager to send one
