(Another) Question re Self Isolation

I'm looking for some advice please.

My 7 year old nephew tested positive on 2 x lateral flow tests this morning for covid after contact with a positive case in his school. He is getting his PCR today, which we are expecting to be positive.

He stayed over at my house on Friday night and left at noon on Saturday.

His symptoms (not "key" symptoms, but headache & snotty nose plus feeling sick) started from him getting up at 6am this morning.

So my question is, while we are just outside the 48 hour window to have to self isolate, should we be doing so anyway? I have 3 boys who go to 3 separate schools so it's not just us to consider. But I don't want to overreact and lock my house down unnecessarily.

Thanks.

I understand your concern. However, you are comfortably out of the 48 hour window. Could you all do daily LFT's to be sure?

I hope your nephew and the rest of your family are ok.

Thank you darling, I think LFT's are the way to go.

It just feels crazy that my nephews contact with the positive case was Thurs, he stayed here on Fri/Sat then we're free to go out and about even though I know he was incubating it in our presence. We're only out of the window by about 12 hours.
