Dd doesn't actually have covid! She had a pcr test yesterday which came back negative last night. But she had a hacking cough. It sounds very wet and loose. She also has a runny nose. Likely a cold or hayfever. She suffers badly with hayfever but seems like it could be a cold.

Anyway, she's cough cough cough. Sounding pretty rattly. I plan to ring the doctors if it doesn't get better but she is absolutely fine in herself. She's eating, drinking and running around the house.

Although test is negative I've kept her off schooo anyway because it doesn't seem right to send her with this cough even if it's not covid!

But yeah cough remedies? For a 6 year old! Any ideas?

The last time she had a bad cough (much worse than this one and she was very ooorly too) was just before the first lockdown. She coughed non stop. This time around it's mainly mornings and evenings. She's sleeping fine too! No coughing at night!

Any ideas?

Oh your poor DD, sounds awful for her.

For me — and with me it was covid, so maybe different — I found the most soothing thing was hot water with two or three slices of lemon and a teaspoon or two of honey.

You need real lemons, it doesn’t seem to be as effective with squeezy bottle lemon juice.
