School and track and trace

If a positive case appears at secondary school, and subsequently lots of children get sent home to self isolate....do the school inform the government of those close contacts?? And therefore would they get a track and trace notification??

Schools are designated t&t agents and do their own tracing so you won't get additional calls from t&t, but must obey any instructions to isolate from schools.

Would there be a T&T notification to isolate?

No, letter/email/call from the school not track and trace as not needed as schools do there own and it’s the same rules as track and trace.

Urghh. That means annoyingly dd not only has been sent home from school as a precaution (lots of cases and she’s vulnerable), she’s now been pinged my track and trace as a close contact!!

Was hoping it was the school case....not an additional one!!

Had call from the school plus the T&T notification al within 20 mins!!!!

I’m a teacher. We notify PHE of any positive cases.

How old is dd? Has the app on her phone pinged? It could still be the same case- school is notified by parents who then tell classmates to isolate. Infected child has a phone, logs the positive test which then triggers DDs phone to tell her to isolate.

She’s 15. We were told she wasn’t close contact although in same class. To me that’s a close contact but....
