Due to take kids out of school for a self catering holiday in our own country today. My son said on Friday has pal had been sent home and told to self isolate due to being in contact with someone with CV in his class. I asked if he was in same classes as him and he said no. Sunday everyone gets an advisory from school that due to a small number of confirmed CV cases all of his year and another year have to self isolate and that further details will be provided today. They mentioned track and trace. I’ve tried to call the school but what does mean exactly? Will the school be in touch or will we have to rely on track and trace to get in touch whenever? My experience of track and trace has not been the best. We did a lateral flow test and it is negative but I’m not sure whether to go to this cottage or not? There are over 300 students in each year.

You need to speak to someone at school and find out if your DC was a close contact.

Schools do their own test and trace.

If he has been told to self isolate by the school that is the same as being contacted by T&T.

Your DS should remain at home until the isolation period expires.

I would imagine if your son was a close contact you would have been informed to isolate him by now. I would try contacting the school though! I hope it gets sorted op.

Unless my child was named as a close contact I would still go on holiday.

It’s very simple. Your son has been told to isolate so he needs to isolate.

If school has advised to isolate there won’t be any contact from track and trace as they operate their own and it’s compulsory so yes he needs to isolate and not go on holiday.
