Can anyone advise on isolation?

There was a useful picture on here a while ago but I can’t find it sorry. Phone call from Dd school at 9 last Thursday to say teaching asst had positive lat flow weds. (Confirmed positive pcr Thursday. She had to isolate until Friday midnight which is fine. We’ve had another message this morning to say class teacher also had positive pcr and to extend to Sunday. I thought once they were isolating that was it. If other class members keep testing positive can they keep extending ? Thanks

Last contact with teacher was Thursday am. They all had to sit outside waiting to be recollected

I think the picture you refer to is the household isolators one, where household contacts only isolate for ten days from symptoms/test of index case there isolation would only extend if they tested positive themselves.

It’s different for contacts outside the home, and it is 10 day from each person you have contact with is positive.

daisybrown37 · 20/06/2021 14:55

It will be 10 days from their contact with their teacher. It shouldn’t be extended again, if others get it now - her last contact with them was Thursday so her isolation end date remains the same.

Thank you do you mean remains the same as first TA That it ends Friday or are school right it now ends Sunday ?

Ring 119 and ask. It’s 10 days from Thursday morning, so until Sunday.

nevertoooldforindie · 20/06/2021 15:03

Thanks Christmas that makes sense so they had further contact with teacher thur am who has a test result 10 days before Sunday

this. I don't quite get why it was until just the friday originally.

Regardless, hopefully everyone back at school tomorrow?

Hopefully no illness with your dd,

nevertoooldforindie · 20/06/2021 17:05

Thank you. No symptoms so far.

It’s a shame for the sake of the 10 minutes they were in on Thursday they now have an extra two days isolation. But better safe than sorry. Dd has dyslexia support on sat am so I’m disappointed she will now miss two

Frazzled it was next Friday because the TA tested positive on the Wednesday so they must have counted the Wednesday in the 10 days. They went to school Thursday for ten minutes and were sent home and their class teacher who organised them all then also tested positive.

Ah I see now. I think.
nevertoooldforindie · 21/06/2021 20:41

It’s been extended again today so they can’t go back u til Tuesday. Even though the last contact with teacher was Thursday morning he did not get his test results until Saturday

OP posts:
Thirtyrock39 · 21/06/2021 21:53

That's not right it'll be from the day of the contact not the test result. So I had to isolate for ten days from when I went jogging on the Thursday night with a friend who took a pcr the next day and got the result on the Saturday . My isolation was from the contact so stopped at midnight a week Sunday - so ten days and four hours after contact

Frazzled2207 · 21/06/2021 21:55

When the test result comes through has nothing to do with it. I would challenge the school if this is what they say

ScarlettDarling · 21/06/2021 21:59

Yep, they’re definitely wrong about the latest extension. It’s ten days from last contact not from the day their test results come through.

JanFebAnyMonth · 21/06/2021 22:19

Can’t see why they’d need to extend it again - although I have read of some cases in surge areas where they’ve said isolate for 14 days not 10?

nevertoooldforindie · 22/06/2021 06:59

I agree I don’t think it’s right. It’s public health England that have advised.
