Feeling so cross why allow schools to stop masks on may 17th.
When Hancock knew the delta varient was present in April 2021.

School outbreaks my councils 46 this week and a fair few in neighbouring county with some schools fully shut.
Lots senior transition days and inter sports tournament cancelled.

We know from Kent alpha varient took a few months get really bad.
Some say 6 week break act as firebreak.
I am bot so sure as people will travel and mingle and in some cases School maybe mirror community transmission which is on the rise.

I wish having would go for starters.
They said they making education a priority back in march.
This term has been rubbish for many.
I have no faith that autumn term be any different.

No mitigation measures on ventilation
No masks or compulsory testing.
No smaller class sizes.
No vaccines for under 18s.

@WaverleyPirate

The epic failure of Gavin Williamson.
I'm amazed this guy is still in the job tbh. Perhaps no-one else wants the job?🙄🙄

DofE is always way too late with guidance, and yes I agree, kids should still be wearing masks despite the guidance. The irony of this is that all school staff still have to wear masks and most of had at least one vaccine, many staff have had both jabs. Go figure😒

@ChloeDecker but other people have said on here that ONS were discredited and I just wanted to point out that actually they came back with a pretty informative response to refute the accusations. Data can be used to show many things depending on what you want to show. People have suggested comparing teachers to HCP sept- Dec but that is a fairly biaised measure as HCP were most at risk early on and many were immune during that time period because they had already had it. So yes less teachers were in work apr-August but many HCP were immune later on having already had covid. There have also been a lot of HCP working from home or with reduced contact or unable to work which skews that figure. I’m not sure why there needs to be this constant comparison, people who can’t work from home have undoubtedly been more affected but the figures are not detailed enough to provide much in the way of meaningful comparison. I’m sure gov would rather not let on just how many hospital staff, teachers, factory workers and especially care homes workers have had covid. Perhaps it will come out in the enquiry but I won’t hold my breath

You only mentioned the issue with spreading out all school staff into separate roles when no other profession was which obviously happened and does need to be pointed out. You then posted a link that didn’t completely say what you said it did and I feel it is important for people reading. Too many members of the public falsely thing school staff are not a risk and it is important to challenge that.

Just want to point out again that the data in this case came from a select group of people regularly testing etc as part of the study not the whole general public so has not included those who previously had Covid.

I’m not sure why there needs to be this constant comparison,

Because when you are lied to and gaslighted and told to pipe down, people tend to want to speak up.

And lastly, from your link which is encouraging and I hope can give more answers one way or the other.

We take seriously the need to provide more information on schools. In addition, we are carrying out a Schools Infection Survey that was launched in October. This survey samples around 100 secondary schools and includes testing of pupils and all staff in schools. The first round of testing has just been completed and we are analysing results.

@ChloeDecker the ONS survey included people who had had covid, it was a random sample (although not totally random in geography as areas with high incidence were targeted). I know people who discovered they had had it asymptomatically because they were asked to participate. It’s common sense really that institutions would be more affected, particularly those were covid sufferers were specifically sent. The more closed the institution the worse the situation.
